When it comes to blockbuster titles, Sony has had a somewhat disappointing 2024: Many believe the PlayStation 5 lacks the kind of exclusives seen on previous generations with some exceptions here and there.Astro Botmay have been a resounding success among fans and critics but games likeGod of War: Ragnarok, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,andHorizon Forbidden Westall received a more lukewarm reception than many expected.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), content creatorJorraptorshared a job listing posted by Guerrilla Games for a “Release QA Intern,“noting that the role will grant the employee practical and theoretical experience to ensure an upcoming game is ready to launch.
Jorraptor goes on to speculate thatthis may be the long-rumoredHorzion Online, hinting that the game could finally arrive in 2025. If that deduction proves to be accurate, it seems more and more likely that next year could be big for the PlayStation 5.

Beyondthe speculation regardingHorizon Online, Jorraptor also points out that rumors have run rampant that Sony is planning to release several other major titles alongsideconfirmed 2025 exclusivesGhost of YoteiandDeath Stranding 2: On the Beach.The massive Insomniac leak of December 2023 led many to believe a standaloneVenomgame was planned for 2025but the studio has yet to confirm or announce anythingregarding the Lethal Protector.Days Gonedeveloper Bend Studio is also reportedly planning to release something new next year.
If that wasn’t enough,Haven Studios’Fairplay, which was unveiled during the May 2024 PlayStation Showcase, is also rumored to launch in 2025, acting as yet another addition to Sony’s growing library of live-service games. Speculation is also running wild regarding Insomniac’sWolverinegame which was unveiled in 2021 buthas been quiet ever sincebeyond some leaked gameplay footage. There’s no word yet on a release date, but many fans believe it could arrive in 2025.

I’m already looking forward to whatPlayStationhas in store for 2025 but I think some of the aforementioned rumors are a touch optimistic. Game development is a tricky process, so even if 2025 turns out to be a slow year, I’d rather have that than force developers to crunch to meet an impossible deadline.
