Summary
Black Myth: Wukonghas many different mechanics that go into its combat system, but a poorly written explanation hides one crucial one. This action RPG mixed with light souls-like combat includes numerous systems, likeBlack Myth: Wukong’s best spirits, Staff Stances, magic spells, and leveling up the Destined One. All of these are crucial to beating the game while allowing the versatility to mix and match playstyles.
How Staff Stances workis the first thing that should be learned about the game’s combat. Luckily, the three stances: Smash, Pillar, and Thrust, can all be used together based on where Sparks are placed. It is even beneficial to tune the stance to whatever fight one is encountering. Each one has its strengths and weaknesses while feeling different enough to make up for the fact the Staff is the only weapon in the game.

How To Use Resolute Counterflow In Black Myth: Wukong
The Built-In Parry Strike
The first Stance players will use and level if the Smash Stance, which heavily revolves around the Resolute Counterflow mechanic. The issue with this is how it is written in the game:“Performing Heavy Attack during Light Attack combo with a Focus Point consumed, allows the Destined One to execute Resolute Strike”. This strike sees through the enemy attack, meaningany damage taken by the player is nullified, and unleashes a powerful attack with a higher chance to stagger. The issue is the line should go “Perfoming Heavy Attack during Light Attack combo will consume a Focus Point to allow the Destined One to execute Resolute Strike.”
To use this mechanic at its fullest, time the Heavy Attack to when the enemy is about to strike. This will make the staff go red, meaning the attack has been seen through, and will perform the Resolute Strike. Resolute Counterflow is crucial toparrying inBlack Myth Wukongand maximizing the damage of the Smash Stance while also providing some much-needed defense. This is needed because Smash Stance is the most attack-focused of the three and only has this and some slight damage reduction during Heavy Attacks built into it.

How To Further Master Smash Stance And Resolute Counterflow
Maximizing The Offensive Potential
Further down the skill tree, Resolute Counterflow gets a follow-up attack called Skyfall Strike. This will use another Focus Point to launch the Destined One into the air to perform a heavy downward strike.Skyfall Strike can be further enhanced with the perk Vantage Point, which will increase the damage based on the amount of Focus Point the player has at the moment. Outside these perks, the rest of the tree increases Focus regeneration and, how fast Heavy Attacks charge & the damage done by them.
Overall, the Smash Stance is a great choice for those experienced with soulslike dodging, rewarding them with arguably the most damage of the three. Even without experience, the other magic spells acquired throughout the game can help offset the aggressive playstyle of this stance. It is unfortunate that this typo inBlack Myth: Wukongis hiding this important mechanic, but luckily it can still be used.
