Summary
With the sheer variety on offer inArk: Survival Ascended, it’s a wonder why players need any more dinosaurs stomping around The Island butthose who want some more extraordinary creations should check out this massive mutations mod. One of the best parts ofArkis how active the community is when it comes to generating additional content and while most of the mods may not be official, it makes the game feel even bigger than it already is. Some of these add-ons may be small tweaks, but others can fundamentally change the game.
Posted to Curse Forge by creatorJams_uWu, the “ATJ Creature Additions” mod may sound like a normal add-on dedicated to expandingArk’s roster of dinosaurs, but the emphasis on bizarre mutations makes it much more appealing. The mod adds over 40 mutated creatures to the game, sporting unique twists and designs to make them feel freshcompared to their vanilla versions. Jams_uWu provides some fun hints as to the nature of each of these odd dinosaurs but half the fun of the mod is looking for and experiencing their strange traits by simply booting upArk.

What Are Ark: Survival Ascended’s Best Dinosaurs?
It’s Really A Matter Of Personal Taste
Even without the expansive “ATJ Creature Additions” mod,Ark: Survival Ascendedis littered with animals that, when tamed, can make a playthrough much more interesting. Some of the best dinosaurs in the gameare the most recognizable species, including the Triceratops andthe Tyrannosaurus Rex, the latter of which many consider the best animal to tame inArk. There are, however, some lesser-known species that may not have mutated abilities like glowing in the dark or turning wood into metal, but they’re nonetheless standout dinosaurs.
Arguably one of the strangest creatures that can be tamed in the base version ofArk: Survival Ascendedis Yutyrannus, a smaller and oddly fluffy version of the T-Rex. While its fur may look cuddly, its gigantic teeth and Fear Roar ability make it a force to be reckoned with. There’s also the Therizinosaurus, which looks like an uncomfortable mix of a lizard and bird but its gathering rates and base stats make it a valuable tame at any point in the game.

Ark: Survival Ascendedis one of a few games that’s managed to stay relevant by making mod support a priority withdeveloper Studio Wildcard often working with players to add unique content to the game. After a rocky launch, the popular survival game is back on track toreimagining its strange world in Unreal Engine 5. What lies ahead for the game is unknown, but at least the community can alwaysturn to mods to further enhance their enjoyment.
