In contrast to Batman’s main title,Detective Comicshas lately introduced more supernatural elements into the Caped Crusader’s narrative. More recently, in the’Tecrun by writer Ram V, Batman has just overcome being possessed by the Azmer demon, and the story also featuredthe return of Doctor Hurt. In addition, the Orgham family — who wield power and control over all things supernatural in Gotham City — attempted torun Batman out of Gotham. But with help from his Bat-Family, Batman averted that consequence. Now, as the DC solicitation showcases, Batman’s next obstacle will be ghosts.
Tom Taylor wastes no time in planting his footprints in Batman lore.

Whether this is a literal ghost that’s about to haunt Bruce or a figurative one remains to be seen. But the issue summary confirms one thing:this ghost dates back to the night that Bruce Wayne’s life changed forever. It may even be a ghost that has been haunting Batman since that night, lurking in the background, watching from where he least expects it. The synopsis suggests that the revelation could change Batman forever, which could be a running theme of the arc.
A Lore-ChangingDetective ComicsArc for Taylor and Janín
This Run Is Already Off to a Fascinating Start
Taylor wastes no time in planting his footprints in Batman lore. In many ways, he has already done that through his contributions to Nightwing’s lore, but his first arc inDetective Comicsis already promising to be a life-changing one for Batman, tracing back to that fateful night in Crime Alley. There’s “starting with a bang,” and then there’s “leaving an impact,” and Taylor could certainly do the latter if he lands the execution. The deaths ofBatman’sparents have always haunted him, but that fact could take on a literal meaning once October rolls around andTom Taylor’sDetective Comicsrun begins.
Detective Comics#1093is available October 23rd from DC Comics.
