20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

8Joe Knows His Way Around The Boat

Joe Understands The Mustique

If theBosun is the first crew member firedfromBelow Deck Medseason 9, Joe could easily step into his place. None of the deck team worked with Captain Sandy or on the Mustique before the season. However, that hasn’t held Joe back from learning the ins and outs of the boat.Iain has left Joe, Gael, and Nathan high and dryon multiple occasions, forcing them to learn how to navigate the superyacht by themselves. It’s still pretty early on into the charter season, but Joe has shown he understands the layout of the Mustique.

7Joe Has The Respect Of His Crew

Iain Hasn’t Earned Their Respect

Iain hasn’t earned respect from his crew. During the second charter ofBelow Deck Medseason 9, the Bosun didn’t help the deck team prepare for beach day. The guests requested an Olympic-style competition andIain left Joe and Gael with no planwhen they arrived at their destination. He left them alone to set up and transport all the beach supplies and failed to warn them they needed to prep games for the guests. Joe and Gael were under a lot of pressure and suffered from dehydration as they rushed to set things up on the beach.

The disastrous trip forced Joe and Gael to look at Iain differently. As the Bosun, it was his responsibility to disperse tasks among the crew. If he didn’t want to brainstorm games for the guests, he should have assigned that job to Joe, Gael, or Nathan. Instead, he waited until the last minute and didn’t help out his deck team at all. He’sconsistently left them alone to navigate conflictwithout his guidance, which has forced Joe to step up in his place.

6Joe Has Called Out Several Of Iain’s Mistakes

Nathan & Joe Talked About Iain’s Leadership In Their Confessionals

Joe calls out Iain’s mistakes as a Bosun. Nathan and a charter guestdrifted off to sea during water activities becauseno one from the deck team was watching them. Captain Sandy was outraged when a neighboring catamaran rescued them and returned them to the Mustique. Joe took responsibility for the mistake and told the captain he wasn’t watching Nathan and the guest. Captain Sandy appreciated his apology but explained it was the Bosun’s job to make sure someone was keeping an eye on the guests.

As the season progressed, the Bosun had less presence than almost everyone else in the crew, except when Captain Sandy or coworkers critique his work.

Joe could have thrown Iain under the bus to Captain Sandy, but he didn’t. Later that day, the Bosun took out his frustration on his crew when cleaning up the deck.Iain started micromanaging Joe and Nathanto compensate for his error. He didn’t need to walk them through every task, but he did so anyway. Joe and Nathan were upset by Iain’s micromanaging and voiced their disappointment with Iain in their confessional interviews. As the season progressed, the Bosun had less presence than almost everyone else in the crew, except when Captain Sandy or coworkers critique his work.

5Captain Sandy Seems To Like Joe

Captain Sandy & Joe Get Along

Captain Sandy and Joe get along well. Even though he’s not the Bosun, he’s always present on deck. Joe tried to take the blame for Nathan and a guest drifting off, but she wouldn’t let him. Coincidentally, Iain is missing when Captain Sandy checks on the deck team, allowing her to chat with Joe. She’s seen how hard the deckhand works and how seriously he’s taken his job. If Captain Sandy fires Iain,Joe will be in the running for the job as Bosun because of his performanceso far in the season.

4Joe Has Enough Experience As A Deckhand To Be A Bosun

Joe Has Grown During Below Deck Med Season 9

Joe hasn’t had the longest yachting career, but he does have enough experience to be promoted to Bosun. He joined the season havingworked as a deckhand for three years, while Iain had five. Iain may have worked in the yachting business longer, but that doesn’t mean he’s a better crew member. Joe stepped up when the Bosun dropped the ball inBelow Deck Medseason 9. He’s already working as the lead deckhand, which is one rank lower than Bosun, meaning he’d be promoted if Captain Sandy doesn’t call in a new (or past) Bosun.

3Joe Is A Hard Worker

Iain Slacks Off While The Deck Team Works Hard

All of Iain’s deckhands have proven to be hard workers. While the Bosun slacked off at times, Joe has unofficially stepped into his role. He’s no stranger to conflict, but he’s still good at his job. Joe, Gael, and Nathan are a great trio, and they’ve been able to learn and teach each other while working together. Iain is shown doing push-ups, sleeping in his cabin, and roaming around the Mustique doing nothing in segments on the show. It seems likethe Bosun thinks he’s irreplaceable and can do less work, which isn’t the case.

2Joe Knows How To Separate Work & Personal Matters

Bri & Elena Are Feuding Over Joe

Joe is involved in a dramatic storyline involving Elena and Bri. Both stews found the deckhand attractive and wanted to pursue a boatmance with him. After Bri and Joe made out in the hot tub after a night out, Elena felt betrayed. Their feud bled into their professional relationship, with Aesha threatening to fire either of them if they couldn’t sort out their drama. WhileBri and Elena were feuding over Joe, he was completely removed from the dispute.

Their love triangle hasn’t impeded his performance as a deckhand, which is a good display of separating work and personal matters.

The deckhand hasn’t tried to cause drama within the exterior team either. While he’s not keen on Iain as a Bosun, he speaks highly about his fellow crew members. Joe, Gael, and Nathan could have thrown him under the bus after their rough day, but they didn’t. He doesn’t seek out drama, which is a reputable quality in yachting. During his July 8 appearance onWatch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Joe didn’t say one bad word about Iain. He called out some of his faults as a Bosun, but didn’t take any personal shots at his superior.

Being classy about coworkers is a sign of good character. Those who aren’t betray themselves with their words and actions.

Joe Is The Next In Line To Become Bosun

As the lead deckhand, Joe would be the natural option to replace Iain as Bosun. At the beginning ofBelow Deck Medseason 9, it seemed like he was there to have a good time. As the season progressed,Joe has shown his skills as a deckhand and leader. He navigated the conflict swimmingly and uplifted his fellow crew members, Gael and Nathan. The deck team has great chemistry among themselves, except the Bosun. If Iain were fired, this would only strengthen the crew’s camaraderie.

Joe has been Iain’s best deckhand, even proving he should take over the Bosun’s leadership position. Captain Sandy is frustrated with Iain’s performance inBelow Deck Medseason 9, and she may have to fire him if he doesn’t improve. From the looks of it, Joe will likely be promoted to Bosun during the hectic season, unless Captain Sandy calls on a former crew member fromBelow Deckpast.
