Could Channing Tatum’s Gambit Movie Actually Happen Under Marvel Studios?
It Might Be Hard
Tatum’s Gambit is one of the most beloved parts ofDeadpool & Wolverine. With the movie projected to comfortably pass the $1 billion mark, it is evident that fans love what Marvel did. As such, there could be a chance for Tatum to finally get his Gambit movie. However, the main issue with that is the actor is unlikely to be the MCU’s Gambit. At 44, Tatum might be too old for the role when Marvel’s X-Men movie reboot comes out.
Whoever plays the MCU’s Gambit would have to take on the role for at least a decade of MCU releases. While Tatum surely has the drive to play the character for that time, Marvel might have a younger version of the hero and the rest of the X-Men in mind for the team’s reboot. As such, Tatum has more of a chance to show up in future multiverse films,Avengers: Secret Warsbeing the best bet, than to actually get to lead his desired Gambit movie.
There could be a way for Tatum’s Gambit to be a big part of an X-Men movie though.The Marvels' post-credits sceneintroduced a new universe with a version of the X-Men, as Kelsey Grammer returned as Beast. Marvel could create a new X-Men movie focused on that universe to flesh it out and expand the scope of the Multiverse Saga before the characters meet the MCU’s heroes in possiblyAvengers: Secret Wars. Tatum’sGambitcould be originally from that universe, being sent back to it by the TVA at the end ofDeadpool & Wolverine.
