Deborah Ann Woll, star of Netflix’sDaredeviland slated to appear in theMarvel Cinematic Universecontinuation,Daredevil: Born Again, recently shared a post that served as a reminder of the excellent chemistry behind her Karen Page and Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle. As the release oftheDaredevil: Born Againshowand the return of at least one Marvel herodraws nearer, anticipation is high for seeing these characters back on the small screen. It has been several years sinceDaredevilfinished its run, leading to much speculation about where the supporting characters have been since.

While not all of thetimeline of Netflix’sDefenderssagaconnected with audiences, the bulk of the characters that they introduced were immediately beloved.Jon Bernthal’s iteration of The Punisher was among the best of these, butDaredevil’s supporting cast, including Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, was just as strong. Revisiting these immaculately cast and performed roles in the new series is one of the biggest draws for the new show, and there is great excitement to see some missed pairings onscreen once again, especially now as a canon part ofthe MCU timeline.

Karen Page And Frank Castle’s Relationship Was A Highlight Of Daredevil Season 2

The Pairing Then Continued In The First Season Of The Punisher

Many of the key parts ofThe Punisherthat will likely factor intoDaredevil: Born Againcenter around Frank Castle’s relationship and dynamic with Woll’s Karen Page.Working with Nelson and Murdock, Woll stood up for Castle and cared for his endeavors in the show. She worked as a liaison between the firm and Castle, which led to a softening of relations between the two of them. While Page did not support Castle’s methods, she couldn’t help but empathize with his motivations.

This relationship continued, with Woll playing a recurring role in the first season ofThe Punisher. However, there hasn’t been any closure to their dynamic, with the same friendship and tensions now as there always were. Frank and Karen clearly share a bond that has never quite veered into romance but has always left the two feeling very close and deeply connected. Still, it seems that there is more to tell with Karen and Frank in the upcoming series.

Why Daredevil: Born Again Needs To Reunite Karen And Frank

The Disney+ Has A Lot To Do To Live Up To The Netflix Adaptation

Daredevil: Born Againhas a lot to do, but bringing in Marvel television heroes and reuniting some of its best pairings from the Netflix shows should certainly be a high priority.Bringing Karen and Frank back together makes a lot of sense because the performers are both strong and share excellent chemistry as well as a fascinating on-screen dynamic.Set photos and the trailer have suggested that Punisher will be working alongside Daredevil throughout the season, creating a number of natural ways for the two to spend screen time together.

In the comics, there is very little connection between Karen and Frank.Karen is primarily a love interest for Daredevil, while the Punisher has his own stories and his own family. However, one of the best parts of the MCU is that it is able to deviate from comics lore when necessary. Finding how different actors and characters work together and pairing them up naturally has made for some of the best moments in films likeAvengers: Endgame. As it stands, that template could certainly be followed in the upcoming series to reunite Frank and Karen.
