Summary

Diablo 4is expanding its classes with the Spiritborn and while there’s still a few months to wait before fans take control of the apex predator,Blizzard has parted the curtains and shared some more insight into the spiritual warriors. The addition of a new class to theDiabloseries has been a long time coming, especially since the core roster of the fourth game consisted of franchise staples everyone’s come to know and love. The Spiritborn is an entirely new class, one that introduces a handful of unique mechanics and a completely original sense of style.

Per an official post onBlizzard’s blog, the Spiritborn are the defenders of the Nahantuan jungle who call upon the mystical might of the Jaguar, Goriall, Eagle, and Centipede Spirits to embue their skillswith a host of powerful attributes. They are described as “versatile warriors” who are able to mix up combat with athletic prowess and vicious lethality thanks to a devastating three-hit-combo and various up-close attacks. Perhaps most interesting is their ability to absorb and strengthen themselves with enemy attacks or simply deflect them back at any foes.

One Of Diablo 4’s Most-Requested Features Is An Easy Way To Destroy The Entire Game

Diablo 4 is facing massive requests for a new social feature, but its inclusion would likely lead to the destruction of the ARPG’s core concepts.

The Spiritborn’s Guardians, Explained

Evoking The Spirits Brings About Great Power

Beyond their baseline attack, Spiritborn are able to channel the four aformentioned Guardian Spirits to embue themselves with additional power. Some of these include the Jaguar providing the Spiritborn with a set of fiery claws that rake through enemies for 20% damage, ultimately exploding for an extra 40% damage, or the Ravager skill which unleashes a might roar that causes all attacks to trigger additional strikes for six seconds. Alternatively, the Gorilla is more of a tank, the Centipede relies on poison effects, and Eagle is all about are-of-effect damage and mobility.

While some players were initially concerned that the Spiritborn would function mechanically like the Druid class, that’s not the case.Speaking to Screen Rant,Diablo 4Game Director Brent Gibson noted thatthe Spiritborn is a much more martial arts class thanks to its baseline moves.Players won’t be transforming into various animalsbut rather evoking their spirits and taking on that magic to enhance their own skills in a way that’s mechanically distinct from Druids.

What’s perhaps most exciting is the Spiritborn’s ability to mix-and-match the various Spirits to create a build that’s entirely unique. Those who want the area-of-effect attacks and mobility of the Eagle combined with the tanky, defensive nature of Gorilla and unite the two to bring out the best of both spirits.Diablo 4players will finally be able to get their hands on the Spiritborn when it arrives alongside thepaid-DLC expansionVessel of Hatredon October 8.
