Summary
Eviljust answered a serious theological question, and even the actors were stunned by the effectiveness of its scene. The drama first premiered in 2019 and stars Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Aasif Mandvi as three investigators desperately trying to resolve supernatural issues.Evilseason 4 has received immense praise, but it recently crossed into controversial territory. After the Antichrist was introduced, Father Ignatious, Sister Andrea, and Sheryl Luria were forced to work together to expel Satan’s influence and save the supernatural baby.
In a recent interview withScreen Rant, Andrea Martin (Sister Andrea) broke down every detail aboutEvilseason 4’s Antichrist exorcism. They filmed the shocking scene in a deserted church, asthe ever-screaming alien-like infant developed a calm and lovable temperament. Martin explained that Sheryl’s motivation, Sister Andrea’s drive, and the desperate need to conduct a baptism in an extremely disordered setting are what made the scene so effective. Check out her full quote below:

Well, we shot it in a church, it was really pouring rain. The church was kind of deserted, like so many churches are these days, they’re going bankrupt. I got to work with Wally Shawn, I got to work with Christine Lahti, there were so many levels happening. One nostalgia, one the gruesomeness of this baby — the Antichrist, as you say — but then the little baby becoming a sweet baby. There were so many levels that we worked on in the scene. But you know, what makes a good scene is what’s the sole motivation of that. And I think that it was written and achieved that. I was just a small part of it.
Saving The Antichrist Could Be Sheryl’s Path To Redemption
Sheryl Has Spent Too Many Years As A Monster
Sheryl has spent much ofEvilas a complicated but monstrous character. Driven by her desire to earn satisfaction by whatever means,Sheryl has often shown signs of leaning into darknessand depravity, even going so far as to help to create the Antichrist. She even went so far that she was given mysterious injections that gave her a feeling of ecstasy, while also tying her more closely to the Manager. It offered her a sense of empowerment after several bad relationships, but it also meant that she helped to turn Kristen’s biological child into the Antichrist.
This Genius Evil Season 4 Theory Says Sheryl Will Become The Hero
The Evil season 4 finale could see Sheryl (Christine Lahti) reclaiming power, reuniting with Kristen (Katja Herbers), and becoming the series hero.
After finally breaking away from the dark side inEvil’s final season, Sheryl is finally working to redeem her past sins. She recruited Sister Andrea and worked desperately to baptize the baby Antichrist. It partly frees Kristen from a horrifying reality, but it also represents Sheryl’s step into becoming a more responsible character. She was forced to reject Satanand everything that he has to offer, which is a massive step for the ever-complicated Sheryl. Unfortunately, Sheryl did hesitate before denouncing evil, so there is still a chance that she could slip back in time.

Baptizing the Antichrist was a serious effort by Sheryl to redeem the sins of her past, as she managed to help save an innocent baby and potentially the entire world. Leland might be horribly disappointed, but Sheryl has finally stepped away from darkness. As the show begins to creep towards its ending,Evilseason 4 is finally offering Sheryl the opportunity to redeem herself after several seasons of truly evil work, and that underlying motivation is what made the Antichrist scene so memorable.
