Unfortunately, the ship is crawling with ex-Red Lanterns and the two duck into a nearby closet in order to avoid detection.Green Lantern and Hawkwoman stand face-to-face in the cramped quarters while they wait for the Red Lantern to leave(a bit longer than they actually need to).

Green Lantern and Hawkwoman stand face-to-face in the cramped quarters…
John and Shayera continue their investigation until they find out what it is that’s powering the ship: Zilius Zox, a Red Lantern who managed to tap into the Red Lantern energy and has been turned into a living battery. Is DC Comics Really Putting Green Lantern and Hawkwoman Together?
It Wouldn’t Be the First Time Show Canon Came to Green Lantern’s World
When Hawkwoman appeared at the end ofGreen Lantern Corps #1, fans everywhere all jumped to the same conclusion: That the creative team was making Shayera and John’s romance from Justice League canon. It’s understandable as their bond left a huge imprint on an entire generation of DC fans (many of whom make up a large part of the readership today). Plus, Jeremy Adams has already played with the idea of bringing elements of adaptations into DC’s canonby bringing in Razer fromGreen Lantern: The Animated Seriesand making oblique references to his past adventures with Hal and Kilowog.
Fun fact, Jeremy Adams actually worked onGreen Lantern: The Animated Series!
So far, there’s nothing that confirms the Prime John and Shayera were ever an item. But the writers seem to be leaving just enough room for some kind of shared past. John clearly seems flustered around Shayera and Shayera has playfully commented on how long it’s been since they were together. Their interactionsutilize the idea of their romance fromJustice Leaguewithout explicitly saying what did or didn’t happen between them. But it still plays up the idea that there’s an attraction between these two that’s going to pay off in a canonized relationship.
… this issue really wants people to think about Shayera and John being together.
Let’s face it, two people getting stuck in a small space is a classic rom-com trope and this issue really wants people to think about Shayera and John being together. They have cute interactions, a history, and just seem to have a positive energy together. It’s definitely not outside the possibility that these two are going to get together. After all, neither of them are tied down, sowhy not go for broke and see what Hawkwoman and Green Lantern are actually like in a real relationship in the Prime DCU?
DC Comics Should Commit and Explore This Territory
It Could Be Interesting to See Where This Romance Leads
As previously stated, there are a bunch of people who watched Justice League growing up who are buying and reading comics today. It’d be a nice treat to see a romance between John and Shayera explored, if only temporarily. Yes, it might be a little messy canon-wise, but in an era where everything is canon, now seems like the perfect time to see what could come from giving thisDC Comicscouple a chance to explore their feelings.
