Google has officially released a Gemini update that will continue to bridge the gap between email correspondence and scheduling. Now, with a Workspace account, you can add an event to your Google Calendar without leaving Gmail.
This New Gemini Tool Makes Calendar Events Right From Gmail
Gmail and Google Calendar are far from strangers. Google has already created synergy between the apps, from automatically creating calendar events for flight and restaurant reservations, to the handySet up a time to meettool in Gmail. With the induction of Gemini, Google can expand connectivity even further.
As announced onGoogle’s blog, eligible Google Workspace accounts can enable Gemini to analyze emails for signs of calendar-related content and offer anAdd to calendarbutton for applicable messages.
The calendar button will appear directly below the subject. When you select it, Gemini will show you the created event in a sidebar on the right. If you need to make changes, you can tap thepencil iconfor edits.
Emails for which Gmail already produces calendar events, like flights, will not get anAdd to calendar button.
Who Has Access to the Newest Gemini Feature?
It’s important to note that this Gemini feature is currently available for paid Google Workspace plans. This is likely applicable to you if you use Google Workspace through or at work. The following subscriptions have access to this update:

If you work with one of the paid Workspace memberships or add-ons described above, you should see the function show up anytime between March 10 and “mid April 2025,” according to Google’s description of the roll-out.
The latest scheduling tool is the latest in a line of Google updates that bring Gemini more and more intertwined with the Workspace ecosystem. While additions like theGemini-powered video generatorare flashy and fun, my bet is this Calendar shortcut is going to be the most useful and popular update yet. Sadly, it’s currently limited to paidWorkspace accounts, which went up in pricethis year, but this could change in the future.
