You can now use two WhatsApp accounts on one device. This means you can switch between two phone numbers with little to no hassle. Here’s a look at how it works, and how to set it up.
What Is the Multiple Accounts Feature on WhatsApp?
WhatsApp has released a feature that allows you to use multiple numbers on WhatsApp on one phone. The feature outshines the ability to link a device, as the additional account legitimately exists on the same phone. By adding an account, you’re able to sync contacts between both phone numbers and set up notifications for each one separately. Sending or receiving messages and making or receiving phone calls won’t take place simultaneously, though.
Once you’ve added a second account, you have to swap between both to access the chats, updates, communities, and calls that pertain to each one. It’s akin to running a separate instance of WhatsApp. After setting it up, you can tapSwitch accountsunder the three-dot menu at the top right of the app, which we explain in-depth in the next section. The best part is that WhatsApp’s multiple accounts feature is fast, easy to use, and eliminates the hassle of needing an additional device for contacting different people.

How to Add an Extra Account to WhatsApp
Using two WhatsApp accounts on one phone is a much-needed convenience. You can add a brand-new number to your WhatsApp account or add a number that’s already being used for WhatsApp from another device. The process is similar in both cases.
There are plenty of reasons to have a second account on WhatsApp. This can help separate business from personal use, function as a backup in case your primary number has issues, or even as a way to keep certain conversations private. For more privacy, you can alsolock chats on WhatsAppto keep them away from prying eyes.

Before getting started, it’s important to keep in mind that you shouldn’t remove an existing account from another device before adding it to a new device, as WhatsApp will request a code from the existing account on the other device.
To get started, tap the three-dot menu at the top right and selectSettings. Here, tap thedownward arrowat the top right, across from your profile picture and phone number, to bring up a pop-up at the bottom of the screen, and then tap theAdd accountoption.

Adding the number to your phone will remove it from any other devices. First, WhatsApp will prompt for a code on your previous device, and then remove the account from said device. If you want to keep your second number active on your previous device, you canlink a new device on WhatsApp instead.
How to Swap Between Accounts on WhatsApp
Swapping between WhatsApp accounts is easy and straightforward. Once your second WhatsApp account is ready, a new option will show up in the menu tab.
To switch accounts, tap thethree-dot menu iconat the top right, and tap the now-availableSwitch accountsoption. And that’s it, you’re all set to swap between WhatsApp accounts whenever you want! You don’t have to rely on linking another device or creating a WhatsApp app clone on your device.

Alternatively, you can tap thethree-dot menu iconand go toSettings>Account. Then, tap thedownward arrow. A pop-up should appear at the bottom of the screen where you can select your other account.
WhatsApp: Using Multiple Accounts
Adding another phone number to WhatsApp is officially supported, and an easy process at that. Best of all, after setting it up, swapping between accounts is a breeze. Make sure to keep your previous account at the ready, if you have one, before moving it over to a new device.
