How to Increase Your Steam Profile Level

Steam profiles are great ways to show your dedication to gaming. They’re more than just numbers; they give you a bunch of perks, like different ways to customize your profile.

They’re also valuable to traders who need authority, as you’d need to invest quite a bit to get to a higher level. If you want to increase your Steam profile level, here are the benefits and how to do so.

What Are Steam Profile Levels?

Your Steam profile level is the number on the upper-right side of your profile page. The levels aren’t about how much you play games or how many games you have, but rather how much you invest into your Steam account.

With a higher level, you know that account has a dedicated Steam user behind it. It gives the owner of the account more authority and, in some cases, trust. While there are other ways to gain authority, one of the easiest ways to know if an account is legitimate or not is to check their Steam profile level.

What Do Steam Profile Levels Offer?

Steam profile levels aren’t just a fancy number; the higher your level, the more ways you can customize your Steam profile, as well as an increased maximum number of friends. Specifically, five friends per level, up to a maximum of 2000 friends.

The customization perks you get are called showcases. There are different types of showcases you can add to your Steam profile, like games, items, achievements, awards, and much more. In total, there are 15 Steam showcases you can have, but you can only display up to 13 showcases at once.

Upon creating your account, you automatically have one showcase. However, every 10 levels, starting at level 20, you can add one more showcase of your choice to your profile. At level 140, you’ll have the maximum of 13 showcases at once.

How to Level Up Your Steam Profile

Whether it’s showcasing your favorite games or making it easier for traders to know if your account is real, here’s how to increase the level of your Steam profile:

Lift Your Steam Account Limit

To increase your Steam profile level, you’re going to need to lift the limit on your account first. You can easily do this by spending $5 on the Steam Store and waiting a few days to verify the purchase. The limit is there to prevent new accounts from all sorts of scams and bots invading the platform. If you’ve already done that, then you don’t need to worry about this step.

Once your account isn’t limited, you can start crafting badges and leveling them up. There are badges that automatically get awarded to you, like community tasks, your profile age, and event badges. However, most of the leveling up will come from the badges from the games on your account.

Lifting the limit on your account will also open up the Steam Community Market to you. If you’re new to it, here’s ourbeginner’s guide to the Steam Community Market.

Craft Steam Badges

To get a badge, you’ll need to complete any game’s set of trading cards.Steam trading cardswill be dropped to you for free while playing the game. However, there is only a limited amount of cards that a game will drop, and you’ll need to buy the missing cards to complete the set.

To level up your game badges, go to your Steam Profile and click onBadges.

Click on any game you want to craft a badge for, and you can do two things; send your friends trade requests for your missing cards, or buy the remaining cards on the Steam Community Market. The first option will depend on whether your friends have the cards you want, so it might be difficult depending on your situation. However, it is a great way to get free cards.

We’re going to go with the second option, which is faster and more convenient. Click onBuy remaining cards on the Market. This will take you to a page where you can easily buy the missing cards in your selected set from the Steam Community Market; you won’t need to search for each card in the set individually. The price is automatically set, but you can raise the price a little bit in case no seller matches the price.

After buying the remaining cards, it’s possible to finally go back to the badge page and click on the large blueCraft Badgebutton. This will go through a short animation and then your rewards will be displayed.

You can level up each badge five times unless it’s a special event badge like some Steam sale badges.

Show Off Your Dedication to Gaming With Your Steam Profile Level

If you’re an item trader for things like Counter-Strike skins, or you just want to be able to make your Steam profile look better, leveling up your Steam profile is a great way to do those things.

You don’t really need to level up your Steam profile to improve your gaming experience, but you may be proud of your achievements, game collection, artwork, and cool items that you’ve got in your Steam inventory.
