Apple Fitness+ has steadily been growing since its 2020 debut with not only more workouts but also tons of new features to boost your health and wellness. One such feature is Custom Plans, which bring the ability to set up your own routine by automatically grouping workout videos on a weekly schedule.
If you’re serious about going all in on Apple Fitness+, this is a vastly superior game plan for using the service than having to browse through workouts and choose them one-by-one. Here’s how to get started with your own Custom Plan, which requires iOS 17 or later.

How to Set Up Your Apple Fitness+ Custom Plan
Open the Fitness app on your iPhone and, as always, head to theFitness+tab. If you’re not already signed up for Apple Fitness+, you’ll want to do that first and run throughhow to make the most of your subscription.
Once you’re on the main page, you should see the new Custom Plans banner. TapBuild Your Planto begin. (If you don’t see this banner, scroll all the way down to the very bottom where it says My Library, and tapCustom Plans.)

Now, set up your weekly schedule and all the settings. Choose the days of the week you want to commit to being active with Apple Fitness+ workouts, the amount of time you want for your routine each day, and the number of weeks you want to stick with the plan. The time each day can range from 10 minutes to 90 minutes and the length of the plan ranges from two to eight weeks.
Underneath that, select up to five activity types from every category of workout Apple Fitness+ has to offer (except forTime to Walk, a unique program of its own).

Just like that, Apple Fitness+ builds a weekly schedule. Swipe through to see how your days look. You can also tap the date at the top of the Review Plan screen to change when you start—up to a week in the future.
If you want to customize even further, you can choose preferred trainers and music genres. This won’t guarantee those selections, but it will attempt to increase their presence in your plan. You can also tap each activity in your plan to modify the time, workout format, or the activity itself, plus add new ones to your day by tappingAdd. Finally, hitCreate Planto set things in motion.

Access and Browse Your Scheduled Workouts
Once your Custom Plan is in action, today’s assigned workouts will always show up at the top of the Fitness+ tab. If you tapView Plan,you can see a full view of your week ahead and swipe to see additional weeks. You can also swap out workouts with different ones at any time by tapping theChoose Workouticon to the right of the title.
Custom Plans are also accessible in the aforementioned My Library section, and this includes all your past plans too for a complete look at your progress.

Get Started With Your Apple Fitness+ Custom Plan
Custom Plans are a huge improvement to Apple Fitness+. They bring so much structure to the service and set you up to have increased dedication to your goals. You can access your Custom Plan any time from the My Library section or start fresh with a new one. Now all that’s left to do is get into your first workout!
