Pinterest is an incredibly bright, inviting app, but sometimes, you may wish you could darken the screen a bit. This is where dark mode comes in to help elevate the strain on your eyes and give you a better experience with the platform, especially at night. In this article, we’ll show you how to switch Pinterest to dark mode for mobile and desktop.
How to Switch to Pinterest Dark Mode on Mobile
Toturn on dark modefor Pinterest on your mobile device, whether iPhone or Android, you’ll have to go into your phone’s settings and switch the whole system to dark mode. After completing the steps for your phone below, you’ll be able to open Pinterest and scroll through the app in dark mode.
To enable dark mode for Pinterest on iOS, you will need tomake sure your iPhone is updatedto iOS 13 or newer. To do that, go toSettings>General>Software Update.

Then, switch your phone to dark mode, by going toSettings>Display & Brightness. Tap onDark. If you only want it set to dark mode at night, you may set your iPhone toAutomaticand change your options.

For Android 9 or older, swipe down from the top of the screen, and tap onBattery Saver. This will switch the phone to dark mode.
For Android 10 or newer, go toSettings>Display. Tap onDarkto switch to dark mode. When you open the Pinterest app, it will also be in dark mode.

How to Switch to Dark Mode on the Pinterest Website
Though the Pinterest website does not have a way to switch to dark mode, if you are running Google Chrome, you canadd an extension to your browser.
In this tutorial, we usedPinterest Dark Theme. On the Chrome Web Store, visit the extension’s store page and click onAdd to Chrome. You’ll see the extension appear in your upper toolbar.

When you open the Pinterest website, you’ll find that the website will be set to dark mode. If you ever want to change it back, go back to the Pinterest Dark Theme store page and click onRemove from Chrome.
