The giant panther remained tied to the astral plane despite being able to spend six hours every other day outside of it. In the event of longer separation from the astral plane, Guenhwyvar became drowsy, forgoing her usefulness in battle. She was first introduced to Drizzt by drow apprentice Masoj Hun’ett, when Masoj summoned Guenhwyvar to help in a fight.

4Catti-brie

Human

Catti-brie metdark elf Drizzt Do’Urdenin the Year of the Bright Blade, 1347 DR. Catti-brie was 11 when Drizzt arrived in Icewind Dale and met her, forty years after Drizzt had first met Guenhwyvar. Catti-brie’s parents were killed in a goblin raid. This raid was met by Bruenor Battlehammer, who adopted Cattie-brie and gave her the latter half of her name. Catti-brie warned Drizzt about a bounty hunter’s threat, andDrizzt ended up saving Catti-briefrom him. Resultantly, Catti-brie was the one to convince Bruenor of Drizzt’s kindness, despite Bruenor’s suspicion.

Catti’s birth name was Cataline, and she didn’t know her surname, so Bruenor gave her the female version of his name - “Brienne.” This became shortened to “Brie,” hence her resultant moniker, Catti-brie.

Best known as the original publishers ofD&D, TSR were open to letting Salvatore write accompaniment books for their world, but Salvatore wanted to create his own locale. So, he asked for Icewind Dale to be located on a reasonably unexplored part of theForgotten Realmsmap, and went on to create the famousD&Dlocation. It is in Icewind Dale that Catti-brie first met Drizzt- an arctic tundra in the Frozenfar region of the North. After Catti-brie’s runin with the bounty hunter Roddy McGristle, and convincing Bruenor of Drizzt’s good faith, Bruenor helped drive Roddy from Icewind Dale.

Catti-brie had been secretly meeting with Drizzt before Bruenor discovered Drizzt’s existence in Icewind Dale during an unfortunate encounter with a polar worm. Dungeons & Dragons Dark Alliance with Drizzt Do’Urden, Catti-Brie, Bruenor Battlehammer

R.A. Salvatore described these events in his novelSojourn, which was eventually issued as book three ofThe Legend of Drizztseries. It remains a solid part of Drizzt’s canon, present from the earlier stages of Salvatore’s writing on Drizzt.Bruenor’s role in Drizzt’s life has been irreplaceable, with Bruenor one of the key members of the Companions of the Hall. Bruenor offers a healthy dose of brawn in any campaign involving Drizzt. Bruenor can also be played, along with Drizzt, in the video gameDungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance.

2Regis

Halfling

Regis the halfling may be missing fromDungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, but he played a big role in the Companions of the Hall overall, and first met Drizzt sometime between 1351 and 1356 DR.“Regis tried to flee from Drizzt” when he first met himinThe Crystal Shard, assuming the worst about his dark elf status. The ancient Drizztfaced prejudice based on some of the violent practices of his people, so Regis' reaction wasn’t unique. Regis had been living in the Ten Towns in Icewind Dale at the time, placing him in Drizzt’s path. The two eventually became firm friends.

R.A. Salvatore described Regis inThe Crystal Shard, his firstIcewind Dalenovel.

Regis the halfling was far from the most valiant or lethal in battle, often reluctant to join his friends on adventures. However, he helped his friends in surprising ways and provided amusing companionship. Regis also carried a small mace and a magical ruby that enabled him to have some degree of mind control over others. Ultimately,Regis proved his usefulness time and time again since meeting Drizztand becoming one of the Companions of the Hall. Bruenor Battlehammer deemed Regis so important that he appointed him Steward of Mithral Hall.

1Wulfgar, Son Of Beornegar

Wulfar, Son of Beornegar, became one of the strongest members of the Companions of the Hall after being raised by Bruenor Battlehammer and meetingdrow warrior Drizztat some point during the events ofThe Crystal Shard. This point, in particular, seems to have been the Year of the Harp, the summer of 1355. Bruenor raised Wulfgar after defeating his family in battle and sparing his life. Eventually, Wulfgar came to see Bruenor as a father, rather than as a slaver, and was a loyal supporter in numerous battles. Yet,it was Drizzt who taught Wulfgar how to fightafter Bruenor introduced them in 1355.

In a memorable display of power, Wulfgar defeated Icingdeath, the white dragon Ingeloakastimizilian, proving his worth as a soldier. This major part of Wulfgar’s history occurred inThe Crystal Shard, singling him out as one of the biggest future heroes of the whole franchise.Wulfgar is a major figure throughoutD&Dgameplayand lore, offering one of the hardiest characters to play. Wulfgar’s apprenticeship under Drizzt only goes to show how influential Drizzt has been inDungeons & Dragons, and how far-reaching his impact has been in the Forgotten Realms.
