Cassian Andor actor Diego Luna has revealed brand-new insight into the influenceAndorseason 2 is going to have onRogue One: A Star Wars Story, and, evidently, it’s going to be big.Andorseason 2 isthe next to be released ofStar Wars’upcoming TV shows—in fact, it’s just around the corner, with an April 22nd release date. There’s been plenty of excitement over this second and final installment of the show, especially because it ties directly intoRogue One, largely considered one ofStar Wars’best movies.
Cassian Andor actor Diego Luna has revealed thatAndorseason 2 is so much more than just linked withRogue One; according to Luna, it’s going to change the movie entirely. Speaking withEmpire Magazine, Luna explained:

“The simple [answer] is, when you are specific about what that sacrifice means, it’s a different story. You know when he gives that speech inRogue One? Now you’re gonna have images that will come when he says that.”
It’s thrilling to know thatRogue Oneis evidently about to be so massively re-contextualized, although, based on Luna’s description, it seems this is only going to make Cassian’s inevitable death and sacrifice so much more painful.

Rogue One Is Only Getting Better Because Of Andor
Rogue One Was Already Impressive, But We Didn’t Really Know The Characters
I am among those who believe thatRogue Oneis one ofStar Wars’best movies. In fact,Rogue Oneis one of my favorite projects among allStar Warsmovies and TV shows. This was already impressive, givenRogue Onewas introducing brand-new characters that audiences needed to emotionally connect with very quickly. That’s challenging enough for any movie, but especially so forStar Warsmovies, and this fanbase has long been resistant to new additions.
Yet,Rogue Oneachieved that and more. Audiences quickly grew attached to characters like Cassian, Jyn Erso, K-2SO, and others, and their deaths were absolutely brutal to watch. However,Rogue Onewasn’t able to show the depth of these characters entirely, particularly their backstories, butAndorhas. EvenAndorseason 1 had already fleshed Cassian out so much more. Undoubtedly, the conclusion of his story inAndorseason 2 will just makeRogue Oneall the more emotional.

Our Take On Rogue One’s Unexpected Spinoff
Rogue One Seemed To Be The Beginning And The End Of These Stories
BecauseRogue Onewas so well-executed, it didn’t feel odd to me that the main characters' stories seemed to begin and end (in terms of their time inStar Wars) in the movie. Perhaps because of that, many argued that there was no need forAndor. Despite that,I was delighted to learn that Cassian’s story would be continued in a prequel TV show. Cassian was a compelling character from the moment he was introduced, and it was clear he had a complicated and fascinating past that we didn’t get to see inRogue One.
Andorseason 1 gave me so much more than I was even expecting in that regard, revealing how his childhood affected him long term and even providing insight into how his adoptive mother, Maarva Andor, informed his radical ideology. It also simply made Cassian a much more fully-formed character, with whom I could empathize entirely, and it proves that even when a story is ‘needed,’ it can be worth telling. I am therefore beyond excited to see howAndorseason 2 concludes this story and, apparently, entirely changesRogue One: A Star Wars Story.
