Average Portability

While it’s not the lightest or the smallest speaker out there, the Charge 5’s compact design and built-in handle make it easy to carry around and take with you on the go. It’s a great companion for vacations or camping. This speaker measures about 8.5 inches x 3.75 x 3.75, so it is not pocket-friendly. I would classify it as bulky, but it is still easy enough to bring with you anywhere.

Same Old Port Selection/Connectivity

This device features Bluetooth 5.1 for connectivity, as well as a waterproof USB-C charging port and a USB-A port under a protective flap. The connection has a great range rated at 30 meters (roughly 100 feet). My house has thick walls, and I was able to walk away from the speaker, and it stayed connected at that range.

you may also link multiple JBL speakers for a true stereo experience, perfect for larger gatherings. This is called “Party Mode”. The controls at the top of the speaker are intuitive and super easy to use. Here you can turn it on, control playback, volume up and down, Bluetooth pairing, and “Party Boost”. This mode actually allows you to pair a second JBL speaker, so you can use them both as an amplified stereo setup.

Stunning Battery Life

A good battery life is essential for an outdoor speaker and the Charge 5 does not disappoint. The battery is rated at 20 hours, which is nearly a full day and night. It easily reached 20 hours for me at mid-volume and had some life in it to spare. So you can count on uninterrupted music playback throughout the day. Another nice feature is that the JBL Charge 5 can be used as a power bank to charge your phone in a pinch.

Average Durability/Water Resistance

Built to withstand the elements, the Charge 5 boasts an IP67 rating, meaning that it is water and dust resistant. So, whether it’s raining or the sun is shining brightly, this speaker can handle it all. That is exactly what I want in an outdoor Bluetooth speaker.

Should You Buy the JBL Charge 5?

TheJBL Charge 5delivers stellar sound quality, a rugged design, and a long battery life, making it a solid choice for music lovers who like to take their music with them. The app foriPhoneandAndroidis easy to use and lets you configure the speakers to your liking and also download software updates. It offers a fairly basic equalizer that does the job, adjusting the bass, mid and trebles.

While it may be bulkier than some competitors and lacks speakerphone functionality, its overall performance and durability make it a worthy investment for outdoor music lovers seeking premium audio. If there is any downside, it’s that this is such a quality Bluetooth speaker, I want to use it wired as well, which is not an option.
