Fans' Reaction To The Minecraft Movie Trailer Explained
Why The Movie Looks So Bad
The first thing that many fans have noticed about theMinecraft Movietraileris itsawkward animation style. There appears to be an excessive use of green screen CGI, which is understandable considering it places live-action people in the Minecraft world. However, everything about the world looks off from its overall aesthetics, the live-action actors being pasted onto flat backgrounds, and the awkward adaptation of animals and enemies such as sheep, Piglins, and Creepers.
The majority of fans feel that the trailer forA Minecraft Moviedoesn’t look much better than the fan-made “Minecraft in real life” YouTube video from 2012that was made on a fraction of the budget.A Minecraft Moviewas reportedly produced on a preliminary $150 million budget, with some fans joking that much of this money went to securing stars Jason Momoa and Jack Black, and little was left over for the VFX team. In the trailer, Momoa wears a funny wig while Black appears awkwardly as himself, even though he’s supposed to be playing Steve from the game.
One Of Jack Black’s Upcoming Video Game Movies Must Break His Rotten Genre Curse
Borderlands marks Jack Black’s return to the video game movie genre, and its now up to one of his upcoming movies to break his rotten curse.
Fans are predicting thattheMinecraft Moviecould be evenworse thanBorderlands, which also starred Jack Black, and was a massive critical and commercial disaster. Needless to say, the first trailer forA Minecraft Moviehas fans very concerned about the adaptation’s unsettling animation style, awkward character portrayals, and excessive CGI. Despite its big budget, the movie’s aesthetic resembles low-budget fan-made videos, creating widespread skepticism about its chance of success. Only time will tell whenA Minecraft Moviereleases in theaters on Aug 14, 2025.
