Dragon Ballis infamous for having characters die and come back on a regular basis. So much so, in fact, that there’s only one full-blooded Saiyan in all of Universe 7 that hasn’t died before, and it might be one you’d least expect.

With the Dragon Balls' wish-granting properties, cheating death is probably easier in theDragon Ballworld than it is in almost any other fictional setting. And with the scale of disasters that have taken place inDragon Ball’s world, there have been plenty of opportunities for even the strongest to end up dead once in a while.

Dragon Ball Super’s Broly is the Last Saiyan Standing

Broly is the Only Full Saiyan Who Hasn’t Died Before

There are only a handful of full-bloodedSaiyans who survived the destruction of Planet Vegeta: Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta, Paragus, Broly, and Goku (and one asterisk we’ll address later). Raditz and Nappa, of course, died when they attacked Earth, and have never been resurrected by the Dragon Balls due to their evil natures.

Goku died fighting Raditz, but was brought back with the Dragon Balls in time to challenge Vegeta. Goku would also later die in battle with Cell, this time going years without being revived until the situation with Buu required him. Vegeta, of course, died on Namek after fighting Frieza, and would then die again afterbecoming Majin Vegeta under Babidi.

When they’re found by Frieza and his men, Paragus and Broly are taken to Earth to fight Goku and Vegeta. Frieza then kills Paragus as a means of enraging Broly.

That just leaves Paragus and Broly. These two spent the bulk of their lives on a deserted planet, which they only arrived at shortly before Planet Vegeta’s destruction. When they’re found by Frieza and his men, Paragus and Broly are taken to Earth to fight Goku and Vegeta. Frieza then kills Paragus as a means of enraging Broly.

Thus, by the end ofDragon Ball Super, there are only three full-blooded Saiyans still alive: Goku, Vegeta, and Broly, and of them, only Broly hasn’t died before.Between his isolated life and tremendous strength, Broly has rarely been in life-threatening danger.

What About Vegeta’s Long-Lost Brother?

There May Be One Other Saiyan Out There

Time to address that asterisk. In an OVA special known as “Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return!”, it’s revealed thatVegeta has a younger brother, Tarble, who comes seeking him for help. Tarble isn’t much of a fighter and was effectively exiled from Planet Vegeta by his father, allowing him to survive its destruction.

The OVA, however, has never been translated or made available outside of Japan. It also poses some continuity issues withSuper,so fans have long argued over whether it should be considered canonical. However, even setting aside the OVA, “Vegeta’s brother” is mentioned as being offworld inDragon Ball Super: Broly, so he still exists.

Since we know little about Tarble’s life outside this brief OVA, it’s impossible to say whether he’s died before, although odds are that he hasn’t. Amusingly, that would mean that the only ones who haven’t died are the two Saiyans-in-exile, one potentially the strongest and the other likely the weakest.

With Broly’s late introduction to theSuperstory, he hasn’t had many opportunities to die yet. However, if he hangs around with Goku fighting evil for long enough, it’s bound to happen eventually, even for someone as powerful as Broly. Hopefully, he’ll be able to keep his streak of not-dying going, wheneverDragon Ball Superreturns.
