Canva Pro is packed with features that make it a worthwhile investment for anyone involved in design work, whether you’re a professional designer, a marketer, or simply someone who loves creating visually appealing content. Here are some of my favorite Canva Pro features that make the subscription worth it.
1One-Click Background Remover
The One-Click Background Remover is a game-changer for anyone working with images. This feature allows you to instantlyremove backgrounds from images, making it easy to isolate subjects and create clean, professional-looking graphics. This tool is incredibly intuitive and saves a lot of time compared to manual background removal methods.
Here, I’ve removed the background from the subject (speaker and table). Canva automatically determined the background and deleted it. I didn’t have to mask anything, nor did I have to determine which was the background or subject.
2Magic Grab
Magic Grab is an innovative tool that allows you to extract and isolate elements from images with ease. This feature is perfect for creating custom graphics and enhancing your designs without the need for complex editing software.
Magic Grab is the tool you need to use if you want to take a subject in an image while also keeping the background. As you can see from the image above, Magic Grab not only grabs the subject from the frame, but it also heals the background where the items were supposed to be placed. This allows you to move, resize, tilt, or remove the subject or background, which saves you a lot of time and opens a lot of possibilities for your project.
3Magic Expand
Another tool exclusively available for Canva Pro users is the Magic Expand tool, whichworks similarly to Photoshop’s Generative Expand. Magic Expand allows you to seamlessly extend the background of an image, making it larger without distorting the original content. This is particularly useful for creating banners or adjusting the dimensions of a design to meet specific requirements.
Since Magic Expand uses generative AI to expand the image, it can be tough to control the output. A tip would be to expand the image in smaller increments. For every expansion generated, Canva will suggest four outputs. Select the best out of the four and continue expanding until you get to the desired expansion size.
4Magic Eraser
The Magic Eraser is a fantastic feature that helps you remove unwanted elements from your images effortlessly. Whether it’s an object or a blemish, the Magic Eraser cleans up your visuals, leaving you with polished and professional-looking designs.
In this example, I erased the plant, the left satellite speaker, and the subwoofer inside the model room. And just like Magic Grab, Magic Erase also heals the areas of the image where the subject was supposed to be.
5Quick Resize
The Quick Resize feature is perfect for those who need to create multiple versions of a design for different platforms. With just a few clicks, you can resize your design to fit various social media dimensions, ensuring that your content looks great on every platform without having to start from scratch each time.
6One-Click Translate
When designing a project meant for worldwide customers, translating languages can be very time-consuming, especially for projects with many pages containing descriptions and instructions.
With Canva’s Design Translate tool, you translate the text in your designs into multiple languages with ease. This feature is invaluable for businesses and individuals who need to reach a global audience. It helps maintain the design integrity while ensuring that your message is clear and accessible in different languages.
7Version History
Another feature that can really save a project is Canva’s Version History tool. Version History is a lifesaver when you need to track changes or revert to a previous version of your design. This feature allows you to view and restore any previous version of your design, ensuring that you never lose your work and can easily manage different iterations of a project.
Earlier, I used Magic Erase to remove several items in the image. By using Version History, I was able to bring back all the items I removed. Undoing mistakes by pressingCtrl+Zis also possible as long as you make your mistake during the same session. Canva’s Version History is much more robust, as you’re able to basically go back to any saves you made, even if it was a few sessions ago.
8Style Match
The Style Match feature enables you to maintain a consistent look across all your designs. By matching colors, fonts, and styles toyour brand kit, this tool ensures that all your content aligns with your brand’s visual identity, making your projects look professional and cohesive. This feature can potentially save a lot of time, especially for projects where you want to make a style change for multiple pages of assets.
9Text to Image Generator
Canva Pro’s Text to Image Generator is an AI-powered tool thattransforms text prompts into stunning visuals. This feature allows you to quickly generate custom images and graphics based on your descriptions, making it easier than ever to bring your creative ideas to life.
Here, I’ve generated a bookshelf speaker on a brown table. I simply typed my idea and let Canva generate the image for me. Since I didn’t really have anything specific in mind, I just gave a vague description of the image. You can definitely be more specific if you want the generated image to be more accurate to what you’ve imagined.
With Canva Pro, you have a wide range of download and export options at your disposal. You can download your designs in various file formats, including SVG, PDF, and MP4, and even compress files to reduce their size. This flexibility ensures that your designs are ready for any use case, from high-quality prints to web-friendly formats.
Canva Pro offers a plethora of features that significantly enhance the design process.
