Summary

Chapter #427 ofMy Hero Academiafocused on its surviving villains, revisiting both Kai Chisaki (AKA Overhaul) and Shuichi Iguchi (AKA Spinner). Deku delivered Shigaraki’s final words to Spinner, as he promised, but the heteromorphic member of the League had a surprising reaction to the message.

With #426 being a fairly heavy chapter, the mood didn’t lighten substantially as the story shifted its focus to the other villains. Spinner, it turns out, was also fighting for his life, having been on the verge of becoming a Nomu due to the mental stress of having three Quirks. Fortunately for Spinner, his life was saved by the scientific breakthroughs that were made studying Nomu, and his condition is fairly stable. Perhaps more surprising was Spinner’s declaration that he was going to write a book about Shigaraki, intending to tell people the “real truth” of the League of Villains.

What Was My Hero Academia Chapter #427 About?

Chapter #427 Revealed the Diverging Fates of Two Villains

The main focus of chapter #427 is the meeting between Deku and Spinner. The meeting is intertwined with a TV report on the situation, talking about public perception of Shigaraki and the League of Villains. The two storylines contrast each other, with the report dehumanizing Shigaraki and treating him like a monster, while Spinner talks aboutwho Shigaraki was as a person, and how they related to each other on a personal level. It’s a good reminder that Shigaraki, despite all his power, wasn’t some monster who came from nowhere; he was a regular person, once.

The chapter also took time to finally allow Kai Chisaki/Overhaul the chance to speak with his Boss once again, although the meeting wasn’t everything Chisaki dreamed of. The Boss berated Chisaki for his selfishness and foolishness, and was appalled when he’d heard what Chisaki did to Eri. The Boss declared his intention to “take [Chisaki] to task” for the rest of his life, presumably ensuring that Chisaki would never forget the horrible things that he did, both in general and to Eri in particular. It feels like one final insult for arguably the most hated villain inMy Hero Academia.

Spinner describes Shigaraki while a news reporter speaks poorly of him.

My Hero Academia Chapter #428 Introduces the New Class of Hero Students

My Hero Academia’s New Freshmen are Fans of Class 2-A

Chapter #427 ended with a comedic panel depicting Bakugo and Todoroki dealing with a swarm of admirers from the incoming UA students. With Class 1-A now having finally been promoted to Class 2-A, it seems it’s time to meet the new crop of first-year students pouring into UA for the first time. It’s also a time to evaluate just how far the young heroes have come in the past year or so. These students who came in knowing virtually nothing are full-fledged, veteran heroes at this point, even if they still have 2 more years of high school they need to finish first. It’s been a long journey, but the results are undeniable.

As usual, it’s impossible to say exactly what chapter #428 may contain. There are three chapters left at this point, and quite a few loose-hanging plot threads that still need to be tied up.The unknown figure fromMy Hero Academiachapter #425remains a mystery, for example, but they were clearly shown for a reason. There are also things like Deku and Ochaco’s relationship which could potentially be touched upon, but are far from guaranteed to occur.

Bakugo and Todoroki are accosted by a group of First-year students at UA.

With so few chapters remaining, the end ofMy Hero Academiais looming large over each one. Just how will this beloved series wrap up for good? The only way to find out is to wait and see just what these last three chapters contain, and how well they bring this story to a close.
