As seen in leaked information that was shared in a post tagged as “Questionable” onReddit,several models for upcoming characters appeared to have leaked, including what seems like an enhanced version of Tingyun. In total, there are six character models shared in the leak, though one of them (seemingly Sunday) is cut off with only their legs shown. The leak highlights a white-haired foxian, a dark-haired woman, Tingyun, a hooded person, and a white-dressed woman, all of which have their respective weapons inHonkai: Star Raillying out in front of them.

While the prospect of new well-designed characters is enticing, the most notable aspect of the leak is the character model that heavily resembles Tingyun. If such a character is to be released in the near future,it is quite possible that Tingyun will either be revived since she was interpreted as dead in the Xianzhou Luofu arc, or her true fate will be uncovered once the Nameless return to the Alliance to investigate the matters there. Regardless of the true nature of Tingyun’s return inHonkai: Star Rail, this could also have some other gameplay-related implications.

Although she was seemingly killed off in the campaign, Tingyun is still a fully playable character in the game. While there have been releases that ended her supremacy in the support role, Tingyun is still a popular and strong support – and because she is a 4-star character available since launch, it is fairly easy to get her to E6. However, Tingyun may not be a support forever. If the leak is true and Tingyun is re-released under a new guise,she may very well be a 5-star character who follows a new Path and uses a new element.
This would not be the first time something like this has happened. The game has already added Imbibitor Lunae as a 5-star version of the 4-star character Dan Heng, for instance. While the regular 4-star Dan Heng uses Wind and follows the Path of the Hunt, his 5-star Imbibitor Lunae form wields Imaginary and follows the Path of the Destruction. Now,March 7th is also bound to have some Path changes, even if maintaining a 4-star rarity.March 7th’s new form inHonkai: Star Railwill make the Preservation character follow the Path of the Hunt.
According to leaks, players will be able to change between March 7th’s Paths as often as they like.
Tingyun’s leaked character model not only offers story spoilers that hint at her potential return but also the prospect of more popular characters made available in different forms. Based on the character’s more elaborate design, it is easy to assume the new Tingyun will be a 5-star unit, but that has yet to be confirmed.
