20 Shonen Jump Manga You Need To Be Reading in 2024
It can be difficult to decide which manga from Shonen Jump’s large catalog are worth investing time into, but these are the ten best to read in 2024.
Hima-Ten! Is a New Romantic Comedy That Breaks Gender Stereotypes
This New Manga Is a Significant Shift From the Magazine’s Usual Themes
The manga follows the story of Tenichi Iemori, a high school student who has a part-time job with a house-cleaning company which allows him to earn some money for his further education. On a fateful day, a successful businesswoman and beauty guru, Himari Yoshino, transfers to his high school.Since Tenichi is so diligent and reliable, he’s trusted with “guarding” Yoshino, as the girls in school keep swarming over her since she’s so popular.
Though there’s no confirmation of the characters' feelings yet, the manga will likelyfeature a love triangle situation. Tenichi has a classmate named Honoka who seems fond of him and encourages him. She is also named sub-class representative while he is class rep. In any case, seeing a male character who enjoys house chores paired up with a woman entrepreneur with a successful career is a fun settingthat definitely offers a break from the themes of all the other manga series currently in the magazine.

The manga is available to read for free on the Shueisha Manga PLUS app. It is not Ono’s first work to be published by the magazine, though. One of his previous works, Full Drive, a sports manga that centered on ping-pong, was serialized from 2017 to 2018.Genki Ono has also been an assistant in another WSJ popular romance:Blue Box, which isdue to receive an anime adaptation later this year.
WhileWeekly Shonen Jumpwill always remain famous for having published the most successful action shonen series of all time, including blockbusters such asNaruto,Dragon Ball, andOne Piece, it’s refreshing to see the magazine embracing changes in the manga industry and giving an opportunity to a romantic comedy such asHima-Ten!
