Silent Hill 2 Remake Is Hiding The Best Reference To The Doomed Silent Hill HD Collection

An Easter egg discovered in Silent Hill 2 Remake shows that Bloober Team understand what the stakes are, and has a sense of humor about it.

This ending can be considered one of the"bad"conclusions to the game, as it sees James drive into Toluca Lake and drown himself in its waters. The cutscene that plays out is similar to the"Water"ending from the original game but with afew changes inSilent Hill 2 Remake. This time, when James in his car has the letter from Mary in the passenger seat, a hand reaches out from the backseat.

This hand caresses James' face, reassuring him as the voice of someone who seems to be Mary speaks from the backseat of the car. While this could be Maria as well, the voice speaks to James, saying"I’ve always been waiting for you.“This could be the push that drives James to take his life, especially when you consider the ever-popular theory that Mary’s body is in the back of James' car.

Whether this is another ghost James' mind has conjured to punish himself or a manifestation of the town’s influence, there is no conclusive answer. The result is the same, confirmed by the sounds of James' car starting up, and the crashing noises heard in the background. While never shown directly, the interpretation of this ending is as clear as it is bleak.

How To Get The Bliss Ending

The Cycle Always Repeats Itself

Thegameplay ofSilent Hill 2 Remakemakes the"Bliss"ending slightly harder to get, as youhave to do more to achieve it on harder difficulties. This is because puzzles are harder to solve in Hard mode as opposed to Light or Standard mode. The"Bliss"ending comes fromfinding a safe combination on a dead Lying Figure enemyyou defeat as you progress through the game.

The Lying Figure can be found in the Eastern South Vale and is the first creature you encounter along your journey. Although this enemy may not have the combination you need, it does help you identify the type of enemy whose bodies you must check. Once you find one Figure with a safe combination, head to the Bowling Alleyandunlock the safe within the building.

The safe contains aRusted Key, which you can use tounlock a chest inside the Brookhaven Hospital garden. This will help you gain a powerful drug calledWhite Claudia, which James can drink in the hotel he shared with Mary to begin the"Bliss"ending.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Review: A Surprisingly Fresh Take On A Survival Horror Classic

Bloober Team assuages fears with the Silent Hill 2 remake, a pitch-perfect adaptation of the original with lots to offer both fans and first-timers.

This ending mirrors the revelation that James killed his wife Mary by having James insert a videotape into the TV in the hotel room. However, this time it shows a much healthier relationship, as James simply enjoys the vacation to Silent Hill with Mary. After a time, the camera cuts back to the hotel room, showing that James has disappeared.

The ending implies that James used the psychedelic drug to return to a time when he and Mary were happy through his delusional hallucination. Although he vaguely remembers the events of the game, he is doomed to repeat the cycle and return to Silent Hill when Mary inevitably grows sick again. This new ending unlocked inSilent Hill 2 Remakeonce again enforces how James must accept his role in his wife’s death and move on to truly be free of his guilt.
