Lois Lane actress Erica Durance reveals whether she would like to appear in James Gunn’sDC UniverseafterSmallville. With theDC Universe’s Chapter 1: Gods and Monstersslate coming up, it will begin a new era for DC in both live-action and animation by DC Studios. While a new DC continuity will begin, there are DC actors from previous movies and TV shows who could get another go with the brand in a different role.
ScreenRantrecently interviewed Durance for the upcoming Salute to Smallville event this weekend while chatting about her overall legacy with the DC TV drama. After having also appeared inSupergirlas part of the Arrowverse,Durance was asked if she would have any interest in Gunn’s DC Universe if she were ever offered a role in it. She shared the following:
Of course I would!It’s a fun, fun world to be in this superhero/fantasy/sci-fi-mishmash. I would want something that had aspects of all different kinds of things going on. But I, personally as a viewer, enjoy those shows a lot so to be able to be part of something like that again, would be a really great experience.
What Erica Durance’s DC Universe Comments Mean
It’s key to remember that Durance has been part of the DC family for almost two decades, after starring inSmallvilleseasons 4-10 across seven years and then making multiple appearances as Kara Zor-El’s mother onSupergirl.To hear that Durance is more than open to still revisiting the comic book film and TV genre speaks volumes, as she had a great experience portraying Lois Lane and Alura Zor-El. Even though it ended a decade ago, Durance is also still game to come back fortheSmallvilleanimated sequel showthat is being attempted.
Where Are The Smallville Cast Now, 23 Years Later
Smallville boasted an impressive ensemble cast, filled with actors who are still very prominent in the contemporary entertainment industry.
Having someone likeSmallville’sDurance in Gunn’s DC Universe would be a phenomenal way to add some legacy casting to the franchise, while paying respect to what came before.Smallvillewas great at including many actors who had appeared in previousSuperman moviesand/or TV shows as a nod to the franchise’s cinematic legacy. That was even why it was such a big deal when Durance took over for Laura Benanti onSupergirl, and portrayed the Girl of Steel’s Kryptonian mother.
Our Take On Erica Durance’s DC Universe Comments
With Durance being an incredibly talented actress,it would be fun to see her play someone new in any of theupcoming DC Universe moviesor TV shows. Obviously, the hope is that DC Studios will pave the way for aSmallvillerevival to happen, but that would be separate, and doesn’t mean Durance and other actors couldn’t also have roles in the main DC Universe. For now, time will tell if anySmallvilleactor will be cast in Gunn’sDC Universe.
