Summary
Warning: contains spoilers forStar Trek Annual 2024!
There is a new space station in theStar Trekuniverse, and its design and architecture have left even Geordi La Forge starstruck. InStar Trek Annual 2024, La Forge teams up with Data and O’Brien to find Data’s evil brother Lore. Their search first takes them to some of the galaxy’s seediest locales, and then finally to a god-level space station that leaves La Forges’ jaw on the floor.
Star Trek Annual 2024was written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly and drawn by Rachael Stott. Data, La Forge and O’Brien are tracking Lore, as well as the renegade Klingon scientist Korath. The trio finds Korath on a massive space station that, in the words of Chief O’Brien, “docked right into the accretion disk of a black hole.” Something aboard the station is emanating various forms of radiation, causing subspace ripples.

This radiation is then directed into the black hole.
The station is a marvel of engineering, andLa Forge tries his hardest not to be jealous.
Geordi La Forge Has Seen Some Engineering Miracles in His Day
Lore’s New God-Level Space Station Is Impressive–And Scary
Geordi La Forge is one of the best engineers in Starfleet history, andStar Trek Annual 2024marks his (and Chief O’Brien’s) entrance into the massive story playing out in IDW’sTrekline. Data, Geordi’s best friend, isrecruited by Ben Sisko to theTheseus, tasked with hunting down the Klingon Emperor Kahless. Kahless and his genocidal Red Path had declared war on the universe’s god-like beings. La Forge had been absent from the story, but Data’s decision to leave Starfleet to search for Lore has brought them back together.
Lore’s space station is an impressive feat of engineering, and Geordi was right to be impressed by it. The unnamed space station was Korath’s playground, one which he thought would bring him immortality. Indeed, the station’s specifications may seem to justify such hubris. As O’Brien notes, the station is docked in an accretion disk, which is flattened stellar matter that swirls around a black hole. That the station was not pulled into the black hole is already an impressive feat. However, the station was also able to shield itself from the massive amounts of radiation spewing from the black hole.

Star Trek’s Greatest Bromance Is Finally Returning
In a first look at September Star Trek: Defiant #19, one of the franchise’s greatest bromances, between Bashir and O’Brien, is set to return.
Star Trek’sNew Space Station MakesDeep Space Nineand Spacedock Look Pathetic
Geordi is Right to be Impressed By Lore’s Space Station
TheStar Trekuniverse has shown numerous space stations throughout its 58-year history. These includeDeep Space Nineas well as the massive space dock in Earth orbit. Each of these stations seems to pale next to Lore and Korath’s cosmic laboratory. There, the two have perfected technology that could alter reality in Lore’s image, a frightening prospect. Geordi La Forge was right to be starstruck, but given the station’s imposing nature and dangerous technology, he should be afraid as well.
