Summary

A High Republic-Era Starship Harbored Numerous Jedi Under the Tutelage of Master Elan

Revealed after thenewly introduced Jedi named Tensu Runreturns to theVoyager Dawnto meet with his mentor, Master Elan, it isn’t long before the Grand Inquisitor acquires the information he needs to track down and attack the ship. Boarding it, the Grand Inquisitor confronts Master Elan and threatens him with a Sith-red lightsaber. Luckily for Elan, the cavalry soon arrives in the form of five elderly Jedi. Brutally cut down despite their efforts to protect Elan,it’s the existence of these post-Order 66 Jedi and Tensu himself that help to shine a light on this secret Jedi school.
Used as a meditation retreat for older Jedi during the High Republic, theVoyager Dawnis still shown to be a safe haven for these elders after Order 66, but, as inferred by Tensu when thinking he wants to “sit at the feet of my Master,” as well as the conversation between Tensu and Elan in the panels after,theVoyager Dawnis also a place where Jedi like Tensu have trained in secret. Far away from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, this school, until the Grand Inquisitor arrived, was a hopeful place in the shadow of the Empire, something that’s no longer the case.
The Voyager Dawn Was Once Used as a Retreat for Elderly Jedi and Housed Order 66 Survivors
So while it was never in the cards for this secret Jedi school to be allowed to thrive underthe Empire and Inquistor’s wrath, the idea that somewhere out in the cold depths of space, the good guys were still doing their all to ensure the Jedi Order lived on to see another day is an assuring one. Unfortunately, theJediwouldn’t see a resurgence inStar Warslore for years after this story takes place, but it’s good to know that they never gave up on trying to bring back peace to a galaxy far, far away.
