Summary
Star Wars’upcomingThe Mandalorian & Grogumovie must address one glaring error fromThe Mandalorianseason 3 and, sadly, from a few otherStar Warsmovies and TV showsas well. The Mandalorianis undoubtedly one ofStar Wars’best TV shows. Not only did it introduce beloved characters Grogu and Din Djarin, but it also kicked off a number ofStar Warsshows and movies that focus onthe New Republic timeline, fromThe Book of Boba FettandAhsokatoThe Mandalorian & Grogu.
However, even the best shows aren’t without their flaws. WhileThe Mandalorianhas suffered some odd controversies, including a surprisingly intense outcry about Grogu eating the Frog Lady’s eggs, this one misstep is often overlooked yet much more serious. Specifically, sinceStar Wars: The Clone Wars,Star Warsshows have had one major plot line missingthat I just can’t get over, andThe Mandalorian & Grogumust finally fix it.

Everything We Know About The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie
The Mandalorian’s story will continue with a Star Wars movie. Here’s everything we know about the project, including cast, release, and timeline.
Bo-Katan Kryze
Bo-Katan Kryze is a major player inStar Warsnow, but inThe Clone Wars, it was her sister, Satine Kryze, who seemed much more important. Satine was introduced as the neutral Duchess of Mandalore who didn’t want the Mandalorians to enter the fight in the Clone Wars, nor did she want to defend the planet with violence. In fact, even when violence was used against her in various attempts to usurp her,Satine was dedicated to a peaceful, perhaps at times passive, approach to ruling Mandalore.
Satine was shockingly revealed to be Obi-Wan Kenobi’s love interest.
This was hardly the most shocking aspect of her character. Rather, Satine was revealed to be Obi-Wan Kenobi’s love interest. This was particularly surprising given how dedicated Obi-Wan always seemed to be to following the Jedi way, especially in the movies. Moreover, this obviously made Obi-Wan a bit of a hypocrite when it came to being so judgmental about Anakin’s feelings for Padmé. Of course, Obi-Wan and Satine didn’t take it nearly as far as Anakin and Padmé did; they never had a full-fledged relationship, but Obi-Wan did reveal he would have left the Order for her.
Sadly,Satine met a truly tragic end at the hands of Darth Maul, and Bo-Katan was partially responsible. Bo-Katan was in some ways the complete opposite of her sister. Rather than a pacifist ruler, Bo-Katan was a part of Death Watch, essentially a Mandalorian terrorist group. It was through Death Watch that Bo-Katan ultimately bore some responsibility for her sister’s death, although not intentionally. Eventually, Maul took over Death Watch, and it was in this newfound position of power that Maul was able to kill Satine.

Satine was not even mentioned inThe Mandalorianseason 3.
Despite that legacy and painful history, Satine was not even mentioned inThe Mandalorianseason 3. This truly shocked me, because it seemed like the perfect time to have Bo-Katan reflect on her sister, her loss, and her family’s ties to Mandalore, especially as she seems to be taking the throne. It would make sense for Bo-Katan to have complex feelings about ruling Mandalore, as that is inherently connected to the death of her sister. This would also finally mean that Satine’s legacy was being honored.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Unfortunately,The Mandalorianseason 3 isn’t the only example ofStar Warsrefusing to even name-drop Satine despite her importance and relevance. I was equally shocked whenObi-Wan Kenobimade no mention of Satine. In addition to Satine having been Obi-Wan’s love interest inThe Clone Wars, she was also one of his most brutal losses. Obsessed with getting revenge on Kenobi for chopping his legs off, Darth Maul stabbed Satine Kryze in front of Obi-Wan, who watched helplessly as she then died in his arms.
It was incredibly odd for a show all about Obi-Wan’s suffering and struggle to recover following the events ofStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sithto not even mention the impact Satine and her death had on Obi-Wan.This, again, would have been the perfect time to incorporate Satine’s legacy and make it clear that she mattered. Moreover, it’s clear thatStar Wars’live-action shows don’t mind pulling in characters fromThe Clone Wars, as that is precisely where Bo-Katan comes from, and Ahsoka now has an entire spin-off show.
The Mandalorian & Grogu Has To Right This Wrong
I am really hopingThe Mandalorian & Grogufinally makes this right. While the plot of the movie is still tightly under wraps, it isn’t a major leap to assume that Bo-Katan will be in the movie, as she has been so key inThe Mandalorian, and she will likely be ruling Mandalore at that time. Just asThe Mandalorianseason 3 had this opportunity but passed on it,The Mandalorian & Grogucan finally confirm that ruling Mandalore has made Bo-Katan reflect on the loss of her sister.
Surely, Satine’s grave is somewhere; it would be perfect for Bo-Katan to be shown grieving before it. Of course, this is just one possibility of many regarding how Satine’s presence and legacy could be felt in this new era ofStar Wars. While it remains to be seen whether this acknowledgment will finally happen, I am truly hoping thatThe Mandalorian & Grogumovie corrects this error fromThe Mandalorianseason 3 and otherStar Warsshows and finally reflects upon the loss and importance of Satine Kryze.
