WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Sweet Home season 3.
Summary
Sweet Homeseason 3 ends with Hyun-su helping build a better world for both humans and neohumans after one final battle against Nam Sang-won and his followers. Almost four years after theSong Kang K-dramapremiered on Netflix,Sweet Homehas come to an end.Whereas the first season followed the webtoon,Sweet Home’s second and third seasons were an original story. Although a lot ofSweet Homecharactersdied during seasons 2 and 3, the remaining ones got to have a happy ending following the battle at the stadium.
Sweet Homeseason 4is not happening, meaning season 3 had to wrap up all of the storylines introduced in the second chapter with eight episodes. The series finale ofSweet Homefocused on Cha Hyun-su, who had now taken control of his body back, on a mission to stop Sang-won. WhileHyun-su and Eun-hyeok arrived too late to stop Sang-won from taking over Seo Yi-su’s body, they were able to defeat the special infectee once and for all after a few sacrifices. Eun-yu was infected and turned into a neohuman, but her final scene suggests she will be okay.

Hyun-su, Eun-hyeok, & Eun-yu Are Reunited At The End Of Sweet Home
Eun-yu Is Not Who She Was Anymore, But Time Can Heal Everything
Cha Hyun-su, Lee Eun-hyeok, and Lee Eun-yu were the only main characters from the Green Home still aliveat the end ofSweet Homeseason 3. With humanity now trying to start over with the help of the neohumans, the survivors of the stadium began to look for new places to live. The final scene ofSweet Homesees Hyun-su and Eun-hyeok on top of the Green Home. Their clothes and even their haircuts resembled their season 1 looks, almost as if things were slowly going back to normal. The scene then reveals that Eun-yu is alive.
The fact that Eun-yu was walking just like she would do to practice ballet indicates her personality coming back.

Go Min-si’s Eun-yu had not appeared in the finale since she started to transform. Considering that Eun-yu even had a vision of her old home and her brother, it is safe to say she fully transformed into a special infectee and later into a neohuman. The fact that her eyes looked a bit distant in the final scene also suggests she became a neohuman. However,Eun-hyeok’s narration reveals that he and Hyun-su are waiting for the day when neohumans can regain not only all of their memories but also all of their feelings.
Hyun-su discovered he could transform monsters back into humans after doing so with Yi-kyung.

Eun-hyeok seemed much more “human” inSweet Homeseason 3’s final scene, which all but confirms that neohumans can indeed regain their personality if they are given time and love.Song Kang’s Cha Hyun-sucan turn some monsters back into humans, but he cannot change the behavior of a neohuman all of a sudden. This is whyEun-hyeok and Eun-yu are going to have to be given time to adjust to their new lives.Fortunately, they will be together while doing so. The fact that Eun-yu was walking just like she would do to practice ballet indicates her personality coming back.
What Happened To The Survivors Of The Stadium In Sweet Home Season 3
Humans And Neohumans Will Coexist In Sweet Home
A lot of characters died inSweet Homeseason 3, including many of the remaining Green Home residents. That said, a lot of the residents at the stadium survived Nam Sang-won’s invasion and the final battle that followed. Still, with the stadium destroyed, the survivors had to find a new home. Cha Hyun-su, Private Park, and other soldiers kept coming back to the wreckages of the stadium to look for survivors. Additionally,Hyun-su used his powers to turn some of the monsters back into humans, thus giving humanity a new chance.

With not many places available for so many people to live in, the soldiers decided to expand their radius and look for new areas where the survivors could start a new life. When migrating from the stadium to another location, theSweet Homecharacters ran into a large group of neohumans.Fortunately, instead of conflict, they managed to find common ground and establish a relationship. Humans and neohumans are now working together to rebuild the world. According to Hyun-su, the only way for humans to survive is to work together with neohumans.
Why Park Gyu-young Is Not In Sweet Home Season 3
Park Gyu-young’s Yoon Ji-su is one of Sweet Home’s best characters, yet there is no sign of her in the thriller K-drama’s final season.
How Nam Sang-won Was Defeated In Sweet Home’s Finale
Sang-wook Was Still There Somewhere And Sacrificed Himself
Nam Sang-won was a very difficult character to be defeated, namely because his monster power was to jump from one body to the other. Whereas Hyun-su wanted to protect Yi-su’s body and bring the girl back, Eun-hyeok was more focused on killing Sang-won no matter what. Sadly, while the girl was hurt,Sang-won jumped to another body and attacked Hyun-su again.Song Kang’s characterthrew Sang-won back into the fire, but Sang-won managed to switch bodies again. This time, he somehow managed to return to Sang-wook’s body, which was somewhere close to the stadium.
Hyung-su knew Sang-won as “Ui-myeong” and only learned about his true identity in the finale.

Sang-won seemed stronger and more confident than ever, which led Eun-hyeok to offer to sacrifice himself.Eun-hyeok planned to have Sang-won take over his body and then throw himself into the fire, hoping to resist Sang-won’s will until they were both dead. However, this was not necessary. Sang-wook, thecharacter Lee Jin-wook played inSweet Homeseason 1, was still there somewhere and managed to reclaim control of his body for a few seconds. It was enough for him to throw himself into the fire, thus killing Nam Sang-won once and for all.
What Happened To Seo Yi-su At The End Of Sweet Home
Yi-kyung’s daughterwas arguably the most important character inSweet Homeseason 3. Powerful enough to turn people into monsters just by touching them, Seo Yi-su feared humans and had no meaningful connections in her life other than arguably Hyun-su. While Yi-su and her mother worked things out in the end, Yi-kyung’s death left her daughter vulnerable. The child started to raise an army of artificial neohumans and was later used by Sang-won as his next body.Yi-su got hurt during the final battle and died in Hyun-su’s armsafter Sang-won had been defeated.
How Sweet Home Season 3’s Ending Compares To The Webtoon
Sweet Home’s Series Finale Is Very Different To The Webtoon
TheSweet Homewebtoon ended with the destruction of the Green Home and had Cha Hyun-su turn into a giant monster to take down the villain of the story. Hyun-su sacrifices himself and saves the day at the end of the webtoon, which is quite different from what happened in theSweet Homeseason 3 finale. The end of the webtoon is closer to howSweet Homeseason 1 ended, with thepopular Netflix K-dramaopting to go beyond its source material in seasons 2 and 3. In the show, Hyun-su survives and helps rebuild the world.
The Real Meaning Of Sweet Home’s Series Finale
Sweet Home’s Title Finally Makes Sense
Sweet Homeseason 3’s ending lives up to the show’s title, with Hyun-su and his friends learning to love their“home, sweet home”while waiting for things to get better. It is no coincidence that Hyun-su, Eun-hyeok, and Eun-yu look so much like their season 1 counterpart in the final scene. After all they went through, the remaining residents of the Green Home are together again. Things will be different now, though, especially because both Eun-hyeok and Eun-yu turned into neohumans and are still trying to find themselves. Still,Sweet Home’s ending was arguably a happy one, albeit bittersweet.
