Electric vehicles are known for mind-numbing acceleration thanks to their instant torque delivery, but they are also redefining what we consider luxury, as well as offering interior accommodations that wouldn’t be possible with internal combustion vehicles.
The lack of an engine allows electric vehicle engineers to maximize interior space and offer a more luxurious interior. Premium EVs also enjoy the benefit of being powered by silent electric motors rather than loud internal combustion engines, which further enhances the feeling of luxury.

Let’s explore the most luxurious EVs currently on sale!
The very posh BMW i7has one ofthe best EV interiorsever. This is not an exaggeration either; BMW uses innovative materials (like glass controls) in its fanciest interiors to stand out from the electric luxury sedan crowd, and the technology in the vehicle is also second to none.
The BMW i7 offers a cinematic experience for its backseat occupants, complete with a 31-inch 8K display that folds down from the roof in dramatic fashion, which, in combination with the rear sunshades closing, gives you a true theater-like ambiance.

The panoramic glass roof also features built-in LED light accents as well as ambient lighting throughout the cabin, which helps set the mood for a lounge-like experience, especially at night.
The i7 also has doors that open at the touch of a button without the driver having to lift a finger, which is another hallmark of true luxury. It also offers up to 321 miles of range, so you don’t need to worry about recharging very often when you hit the road.

2. Rolls-Royce Spectre
The Rolls-Royce Spectre is the absolute pinnacle of electric vehicle luxury. The exterior is regal and luxurious, but in a supremely sophisticated manner—the hallmarks of a true Rolls-Royce.
The traditional Spirit of Ecstasy sculpture is still there, making a powerful statement while adorning the massive hood, but the grille is slightly reduced in size (and also backlit for a very modern look). The rear has the distinctive Rolls-Royce boat tail design made famous by many classic Rolls-Royce vehicles throughout its history spanning more than a century.

Since this is a Rolls-Royce coupe, the showstopping rearward-opening doors are present as well; it doesn’t get any better than this if you want to make an entrance.
The interior is typical Rolls-Royce, which means you’ll only find the best materials, and the LED stars that adorn the roof and door panels make for an otherworldly experience inside.

You won’t find hidden HVAC vents inside the Spectre like you would in a Tesla. Rolls-Royce’s HVAC vents are polished metal works of art; there’s no need to hide them when they look that good. The most exquisite wood adorns the entire interior, and the only disappointing thing is how many cows died for the sake of crafting the leather interior. Synthetic leather is offered, but we don’t expect it to be a popular choice among Spectre buyers.
3. Porsche Taycan
Luxury usually isn’t the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of the Porsche Taycan, but thisperformance EVis also very luxurious inside has and a very wide spectrum of personalization from the factory.
You can customize your Porsche Taycan to feature interior trim painted the same color as the exterior of the car, as well as awesome colors (like Neodyme, a subtle copper-like hue) for the metal parts.
You can also choose from many different shades of leather and even two-tone combinations, as well as option out your Taycan with a leather-free interior.
Outside, the Taycan exudes class and sophistication, which makes it feel at home at the track or a fancy hotel’s valet parking. The design is understated, but it’s undeniably Porsche.
4. Lotus Eletre
TheLotus Eletreis a huge departure from what Lotus is known for (lightweight cars that are a blast to drive), but the British sports car manufacturer has managed to create an excellent (and luxurious) EV nonetheless.
The exterior is very futuristic, and if you look hard enough, you can see some hints of Lamborghini Urus in the front of the vehicle.
Effortless power is one of the most important aspects of luxury, and the Eletre has plenty. It makes 905 horsepower courtesy of its dual-motor setup, and the 0 to 60 mph time of around three seconds is blisteringly fast for a big SUV.
The interior of the Eletre is filled with classy touches, like beautiful Nappa leather bucket seats that massage you and keep you warm. The gold accents throughout the interior also complete the sophisticated look of the Eletre’s interior.
5. Mercedes-Benz EQS
The Mercedes-Benz EQS is a phenomenal luxury vehicle, and this should come as no surprise considering that it is a Mercedes-Benz product. The German manufacturer is famous for making the king of executive sedans (the S-Class), and it’s clear the automaker applied these same principles when designing the EQS, which takes advantage of the EVAdedicated electric vehicle platformthat it’s built on.
Mercedes' brand of luxury isn’t ostentatious, and the EQS’s exterior design is elegant but extremely restrained. The interior is a whole different story; the amount of luxury and attention to detail is truly unbelievable, as is the scope for customization.
The ambient lighting in the EQS is second to none, and the enormous 56-inch Hyperscreen (comprised of three different displays under one enormous pane of glass) will give you the impression you’re driving a spaceship. Even the turbine-like HVAC vents are a sight to behold, and the quilted leather seats also look incredible.
6. Nio ES8
The ES8 is Nio’s flagship SUV, and one look inside this Chinese electric vehicle will make its luxurious intentions very clear. The Nio goes for a minimalist approach inside, but unlike Tesla’s approach to minimalism (which sometimes comes across as cheap), the Nio’s interior looks extremely expensive and lavish.
There’s five-zone climate control, so none of your passengers will feel forgotten, and the second-row captain’s chairs (complete with an extending leg rest and reclining feature) wouldn’t look out of place in a private jet.
The inclusion of a display for the driver is also a great addition. Nio isn’t an established luxury automaker like Mercedes-Benz, but if the ES8 is any indication, the brand is clearly ambitious and has a bright future in manufacturing posh electric vehicles.
7. Lucid Air
The Lucid Air is a cutting-edge electric sedan that’s redefining the way we think about luxury. Its exterior is extremely subdued, but it’s obvious the design is a product of function and aerodynamic efficiency. Regardless, the exterior is very handsome and luxurious.
Luxury comes in many forms, and the Lucid has you covered with its breathtaking versatility. It offers up to 516 miles of range (which is best in class by a wide margin), and you can also opt for the Air Sapphire model, which will become the fastest production car in the world with a claimed 0 to 60 mph time of 1.89 seconds thanks to a mind-blowing 1,234 horsepower output.
Its drag coefficient is also very impressive at 0.197. Inside, you’ll find a beautiful interior with inspiration drawn from natural Californian landscapes, such as the Mojave and Tahoe. you may even get the front seats finished in a dark color, while the back seats are lighter to emphasize a feeling of relaxation for rear occupants.
Lucid’s novel miniaturized components allow for massive amounts of rear legroom (similar to a full-size luxury car), even though the Air is proportioned more like a midsize vehicle.
8. Audi e-tron GT
The e-tron GT is one of the best-looking sedans ever made, and this shouldn’t come as a huge shock because Audi’s design team has been hitting it out of the park for years now.
Every exterior detail looks premium and technologically advanced. Where the Porsche Taycan (which shares a lot in common with the e-tron GT) is more of a classic Porsche design, the e-tron GT looks like a car you’d see in a Tron movie. The really cool wheels complement the futuristic exterior, and the rear features a wide and menacing stance. The overall look is luxurious, and it screams cutting-edge.
Inside, you’ll find an interior that’s surprisingly toned down for such a vehicle with such a striking exterior appearance. Regardless, the interior is finely crafted with the finest materials, fit, and finish. The optional $1,000 matte carbon fiber inlays are a must, as they give the interior a sporty vibe that the standard wood trim doesn’t.
The e-tron GT is the closest thing to a four-door Audi R8, and that alone could be enough to make it one of the best luxury EVs in the world.
Electric Vehicles Have Elevated the Notion of Luxury in a Car
Electric vehicles have been able to surpass internal combustion vehicles in many areas, and now you can add luxury to that list. Their quiet and smooth power delivery allows for a much more luxurious experience than you would normally get in an internal combustion vehicle, no matter how smooth the combustion engine in question is.
Inside, you’ll find that EVs can maximize interior space in ways that internal combustion vehicles cannot. The best example of this is the high-tech Lucid Air, which boasts S-Class levels of interior space with an E-Class wheelbase thanks to its tiny powertrain components and the packaging advantages that they bring.
EVs also have superior storage solutions (frunks), as well as less bothersome emissions that might ruin the driving experience.
