Warning: MAJOR SPOILERS ahead for The Boys season 4 finale!
Summary
The Boysseason 4 finale featured plenty of exciting teases for what’s going to happen in season 5, but it also set the stage for the perfect cameo inGen Vseason 2. The spinoff series has many important ties to its parent series, with the show’s Supe virus becoming a major part ofThe Boysin its latest season.Gen Vseason 1’s endingalso included a Homelander cameo, with him attacking Marie, leading to the main characters being locked away in a mysterious room without doors or windows by an unseen force.
However, the flagship series has its own direct connections beyond the virus storyline, with Sam and Cate showing up as one of Homelander’s allies in season 4, episode 5. DuringThe Boysseason 4 ending, they appear again, attacking Frenchie and Kimiko when the group splits upfollowing Victoria Neuman’s death. While their cameos inThe Boyswere small portions of the episodes they showed up in, their appearances could also usher in a character from the main series showing up inGen Vseason 2.

Gen V Season 2 Is Worse Off After Surprising The Boys Season 4 Death
A key character dies in The Boys season 4 who could have contributed so much more to the franchise, including Amazon’s spinoff TV show.
Frenchie’s Fate In The Boys Season 4 Means He Can Show Up In Gen V Season 2
Frenchie Was Taken By Sam & Cate
When Sam and Cate attacked Frenchie and Kimiko inThe Boysseason 4 finale, they managed to capture them both for Vought. However, with Sam holding Kimiko back,Cate used her power of suggestion to get Frenchie into the van.Now that he’s under her control, he goes willingly, just one of many members of the team now imprisoned. Since the Godolkin-based duo are expected to appear again inGen Vseason 2, her controlling Frenchie now opens up the door for him to appear in the spinoff as well.
Gen V’s cameos fromThe Boyshave always been small aspects of the spinoff, sometimes serving a story purpose, but without making their plotlines too reliant on one another’s. Examples include how various Supes in the Seven appeared during in-universe commercials and promotional material, as well as Butcher learning about the virus in the season 1 finale’s post-credits scene. Because of these small moments the show has already had,Frenchie could easily appear thanks to his new connection to Cate. As for how he would show up, there are a number of possibilities that would explain his presence.

How Frenchie Can Appear In Gen V Season 2
His Appearance Can Set Up The Boys Season 5
While Frenchie was brainwashed by Cate to go with Vought willingly, the manipulation would wear off at some point because he was simply instructed to leave with them. However, if the company has other motives for brainwashing him, Cate would need to continue using her powers on him. While it’s unclear why Vought would need Frenchie under her control for such a lengthy period of time, the potential means he could easily make an appearance inGen Vseason 2 while under her control.
If Frenchie does show up inGen V, it would probably be for a brief cameo, similar to appearances by most of the other characters fromThe Boysin the spinoff. This way, whatever happens to him in the show won’t be detrimental to how his story will progress in the main series. It would also be an easy way to lead intoThe Boysseason 5, partially establishing what Vought has captured the team for without prying focus away from Marie and her friends. The two series would be more closely tied without any negative repercussions.

Gen V Season 2 Is Way More Likely To Overlap With The Boys Now
The Stories Can Cross Over Much Easier Now
BecauseThe Boys' Supe virusoriginated inGen V, there’s already a strong overlap between both series, as it’s now important to both of their storylines. Since Homelander is plotting to put his enemies into internment camps,it’s possible Marie and the rest of the Godolkin students will meet characters from the main show. This includes Frenchie, who could end up being a special case if Cate is still brainwashing him duringGen Vseason 2. His appearance could also hint at how much the world has changed following the martial law now in effect.
WhileThe Boysseason 4’s ending was the perfect way to set up the final season, there’s now potential Frenchie will appear inGen Vto better tie both series together. SinceCate and Sam are now two of Homelander’s most trusted allies, their contributions to his plans may also strengthen how tied together both shows are. Since Cate could still be brainwashing Frenchie for something even more nefarious,Gen Vmay offer some compelling answers to what happened to everyone in the main show.
