Tinder Launches Relationship Goals Feature to Help Users Disclose Intentions
Tinder is helping take some of the guesswork out of dating with the rollout of its Relationship Goals feature. The new feature lets you set your dating intentions on your Tinder profile.
Relationship Goals Arrive on Tinder
Tinder announced the rollout of its Relationship Goals feature on 23 June 2025 in aTinder Newsroom post. The new profile fields take inspiration fromHinge’s Dating Intentions feature, letting you disclose what you’re looking for on the app: a long-term relationship, friends, or a short fling.
In the announcement, Kyle Miller, Vice President of Core Product at Tinder, said:
“This feature was developed in response to a shift we’ve seen among our members. Young singles, who make up a majority of Tinder, are increasingly becoming more intentional with who they spend their time with.”
So to help with this more intentional approach to dating, Tinder has rolled out six different intent options. These include:
According to the dating app company, this will help users make better connections for the right reasons. The feature also comes with a weekly prompt to check that Relationship Goal selections are still accurate.
The rollout of the feature begins on 02 August 2025, with it set to be available to all users by 20 August 2025. If you want to check if the feature is live for you, check that you’re using the latest version of the app. Then head on over to theEdit Profileoption on Tinder.
While Tinder has long been known as an app for hookups, the new feature lets you easily state your intentions without any awkward conversations. Hinge is not the only competitor app to offer the friendship intention, with Bumble also including a BFF (Bumble for Friends) feature.
