Today’s Connections Category Hints

JULY 25 #409

There are a lot of fun categories today, particularly ones that satisfy our archaeological sensibilities. However, to help you dig up some of the answers yourself, here are some category hints before we give out spoilers.

There are still some words that might stump players, so we still have some more tips for you in the form of category names.

PARCHMENT

WAX

This category isfull of ancient writing supplies, which is both a nice callback to archaeology and a nod to my never-ending love of school supplies. It was a fairly easy category to fill out for me for that reason, but I have a love of writing and old stuff so that might make me the odd one out. However, there are very few other “surfaces” amongst the list of items in today’s word choices that hopefully made this one easier for everyone else too.

MODERATE

PRESENT

ANCHOR and HOST were the pillars of this category and made it easier to guess. However, figuring out the other two was a bit more difficult for us. MODERATE was the next one to get added in, butPRESENT could easily belong in both of the next two categories. In reality, it should probably be moderat-er and present-er but that would likely make this one too easy.

5 Letter Words Wordle Hasn’t Used Yet (Updated Daily)

Wordle, the popular word-guessing game hosted by The New York Times, has over 1,700 words remaining as possible solutions.

INSTINCT

TALENT

Having a FLAIR for something is usually an innate affinity, the same with INSTINCT and TALENT. GIFT and PRESENT are the wild cards here, aseither of them could also fit into this category and FACULTY is not a popular term for the same meaning.

Admittedly, looking up the various definitions of FACULTY might be the easiest way to solve this one. Otherwise, this can make it hard to figure out which one is which, but luckily, with some parsing out you can figure out the differences between them.

MUMMY

SPRAIN

This category was a bit hard to put together, particularly with GIFT potentially elsewhere and PRESENT easily fitting in hereif you have parsed out the category but have not figured out the others. This can make each of the categories tricky, but with some patience, you’re able to figure it out. However, being able to wrap up the MUMMY, SPRAIN, BURRITO, and the puzzle will make your day brighter.
