TheTwisterssoundtrack is loaded with country songs, many of which were recorded and produced specifically for the movie, to help give audiences a great time. Set in modern Oklahoma, theTwistersequel is a mixture of recapturing the fun of the 1996 original and updating it for present-day audiences. This was done by having rising stars with popular followings like Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell headliningTwisters' cast. The film’s goal of being the ideal summer blockbuster also means providing a great selection of songs throughout.
The original1996Twisterssoundtrackrelied heavily on pop and rock music to give audiences some recognizable music. The sequel went in a very different direction, embracing the Oklahoma setting for a set list primarily focused on country songs and artists. There are still some non-country music choices included in the movie. Regardless of the music genre, the 2024 blockbuster relies almost exclusively on using songs that were written specifically for the movie, withLuke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, Jelly Roll, and others contributing toTwisters' soundtrack.

How The Twisters Soundtrack Compares To The Original
The Sequel Takes A Different Approach To Twister
2024’sTwistersis a sequel tothe 1996 movieTwister, which was directed by Jan de Bont. The two films have a lot in common, with the sequel carrying the spiritual essence of the original while giving the nailbiting disaster sequences a visual upgrade thanks to advances in technologies like CGI. However, while the two movies have a lot in common, one area they differ significantly is their approach to the soundtrack and music that underscores the tornado-chasing action.
TheTwisterssoundtrack has a markedly Americana vibe, with many Country and Western tracks, both new and old, to be found throughout the movie. The soundtrack to 1996’sTwister,however, is geared around hard and alternative rock. This was definitely a trend with 1990s movies, andthe music inTwistershares more in common with other films of the decade than it does with its 2024 sequel.
Tracks on theTwistersoundtrack include original songs from the likes of Van Halen, Tori Amos, the Goo Goo Dolls, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. This creates a markedly different vibe from the songs onTwisters, although there are a handful of tracks used in the original that are more in keeping with the music choices made for the follow-up.
Alongside the many prominent hard and alternative rock acts who recorded songs forTwisterare a handful of bluegrass and country bands whose songs would fit in nicely with those that featured inTwisters.Outside of Shania Twain, whose song “No One Needs To Know” appeared in both films, theTwistersoundtrack also features music by k.d. lang and Alison Krauss & Union Station. While few and far between, these songs used inTwisterfeel very close to the collection of tracks that make up theTwisterssoundtrack - though, for the most part, the two movies are underpinned by an incredibly different musical tone.
