Only Murders in the Buildingseason 4 centers around the murder of Sazz, with various clues, pieces of evidence, and suspects forming the question of who killed her. Sazz is once again played by Jane Lynch inOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4’s cast, appearing in both flashbacks and as a ghostly figment of Charles' imagination.
Thestory ofOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4centers around Sazz’s murder, which took place at the end of season 3. Naturally, it is up to Charles and his true-crime-loving friends Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) to uncover the pieces of the puzzle that led to Sazz’s death. WhileOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 5will undoubtedly introduce another victim of the titular Arconia, it is Sazz’s death and who was responsible that lies at the center of the clues and evidence found by Charles, Mabel, and Oliver for season 4.

Everything Revealed About Sazz’s Death In Only Murders In The Building
The Facts About Sazz’s Death Are Fairly Straightforward
WhileOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4 reveals a lot of clues about the nature of Sazz’s death, the hard facts are easy enough to recount. InOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 3’s ending, Sazz appeared at the Arconia to celebrate with Charles, Mabel, and Oliver for their successful “Death Rattle Dazze” Broadway play. Sazz goes to Charles' apartment to fetch a bottle of old wine the latter had been saving for a special occasion. Upon entering Charles' abode, Sazz is shot by an unseen assailant through the window in the kitchen.
Only Murders In The Building Season 4: Sazz’s “Murder Victim” Arc Teased By Jane Lynch
Sazz’s Only Murders in the Building season 4 “murder victim” arc is teased by Jane Lynch, who also reveals how much screen time she’ll have.
The shooter was situated in the west tower of the Arconia, and it is all but guaranteed they were targeting Charles. Sazz always dresses similarly to Charles due to their days as doubles onBrazzos, andshe was in his apartment when she was shot. All of this points to Charles being the intended victim, yetSazz found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, kickstarting the murder investigation ofOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4.

Another confirmed fact is that Jan, the murderer fromOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 1, did not kill Sazz as she was incarcerated when the murder took place.
All Suspects For Who Killed Sazz In Only Murders In The Building
As is the case with any murder mystery story,Only Murders in the Buildingseason 4’s episodesprovide several suspects who could be responsible for killing Sazz. New characters have been introduced inOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4, from those on the West Coast who are involved in the movie adaptation of the titular podcast to the residents of the Arconia’s west tower. The new characters naturally serve as the prime suspects for Sazz’s murder, followingOnly Murders in the Buildingtradition, but there are familiar faces who could be responsible too.
Vince Fish AKA Stink-Eye Joe
Vince talks about his apartment’s vantage points inOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4, episode 2, noting his ability to see into Charles' apartment…
The first resident of the west tower, dubbed “Westies,” who Mabel and Oliver meet inOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4 is named Vince Fish. Charles originally dubs Vince Stink-Eye Joe, with the Westie revealing his eyepatches and strange eye twitches are a result of pinkeye. Vince’s initial description as hostile does not quite match his strange, over-the-top, albeit somewhat friendly demeanor, yet he could prove to be the murderer of Sazz. Vince talks about his apartment’s vantage points inOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4, episode 2, noting his ability to see into Charles' apartment.

Inez, Alfonso, & Ana AKA The Sauce Family
Another group of Westies that Charles identifies is the Sauce Family, a group of three who often stare through Charles' windows while making various sauces. Later, Mabel and Oliver enter the apartment to discover the Sauce Family are named Inez and Alfonso, who have a daughter named Ana. Like Vince, the Sauce Family has some strange traditions, with the parents having a connection to Charles that could incriminate Alfonso.Inez mentions she was obsessed with Brazzos and that Charles is her “hall pass,” with Alfonso clearly not happy about his wife’s lustfor another man.
Christmas-All-The-Time Guy
The final Westie outlined by Charles is dubbed the “Christmas-All-The-Time Guy,” a man who never takes down his Christmas decorations. This character was not focused on inOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4, episode 4, but he is played by Kumail Nanjiani, teasing a bigger role in the coming episodes. While little has been revealed about potential motives for Christmas-All-The-Time Guy killing Charles - or in this case, Sazz - future episodes of the show will likely add him to the list of suspects.
Bev Mellon
Another suspect that admittedly has little in the way of evidence incriminating her is Bev Mellon. Bev is the producer of the movie adaptation of Charles, Mabel, and Oliver’s podcast and, thus far, has next to no reason to want to see Charles dead. Nevertheless, theories have been raised about Bev’s potential involvement in Sazz’s murder, which could be linked to the betterment of her Hollywood career.
All The Clues & Evidence Revealed About Sazz’s Murder
ThroughoutOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4, several clues about the murder of Sazz have been uncovered by Mabel, Charles, and Oliver. What this sensitive topic was remains a mystery, but it undoubtedly ties to her murder, the various clues she gathered about the various suspects and her ghostly appearances inOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4.

Showrunner John Hoffman explains why Charles sees Sazz’s ghost throughout Only Murders in the Building season 4, episode 2.
Tap In
In one of the scenes involving Sazz as a spectral projection of Charles' conscience, she uses the phrase"Tap in.“According to Charles, this is what Sazz would say on the set ofBrazzoswhen she took Charles' place for a dangerous stunt, and it is the same phrase she scribbled on the floor using her blood after being shot. This is a huge clue, indicating that Sazz knew Charles' life was in danger and that she was going to “tap in"for him to protect him as she used to during stunts.
The Dudenoff Apartment & Oh Hell
Regardless, Sazz clearly knew something was afoot, and began investigating the Westies of the Arconia, uncovering more clues in the process. One significant piece of evidence is a note that reads “Dudenoff,” accompanied by a sticky note attached that has the number 773440 written on it.Dudenoff refers to the apartment on the west side of the Arconia which never has its blinds open, with the numbers opening a lockbox to access the apartmentthat will be integral to future episodes of the show.

Upon entering the Dudenoff apartment, Oliver and Mabel discover that it was where the shooter was when Sazz was murdered, though they do not know who lives in it. Some clues were presented that all of the Westies have access to the apartment, however. The code that opens the lockbox reads “Oh hell” when flipped upside down, which is the name of the card game the Westies play together. Furthermore, the Westies have a strange tendency to hang legs of ham in their bathroom to eat during the game, with the Dudenoff apartment housing a lone pig.
Sazz’s “Looking At Charles” Note
One of the final clues behind the complex murder of Sazz is a note she had in her L.A. home that reads “Looking at Charles.” What exactly this note means is unclear, but it comes from Sazz’s internal investigations. It could mean that she has figured out the murderer is looking at Charles as a target, or be retconned to mean something else entirely as future episodes ofOnly Murders in the Buildingseason 4 continue to peel back the murder of Sazz Pataki and what this means for Charles, the intended target.
