The Boundary At Level 120 Gives Mechanical Control Of Level 122’s Farm In Silo

They Ensured Bernard Could Not Disrupt Their Food Supply

The people from the Mechanical never intended to push the raiders anywhere beyond level 120. Pushing the barricade up to the 120th floor was a part of their elaborate plan because they knew that if they had control over all the levels below 120,they would have direct access to Level 122’s farmland. Owing to this, as soon as Knox, Shirley, and the team push the raiders up to 120 inSiloseason 2’s episode 6, Knox steps forward and threatens them that they will only kill a few of them if they try. However, together, the people from the Mechanical would get them all.

How Many Rebellions Were There In Silo 18?

While many aspects of Silo 18’s history remain obscure in the show, Silo season 2 hints at how many rebellions have taken place in the main setting.

This forces the Head of security and the raiders to step back, forcing them to establish a new set of barricades at level 120. Meanwhile, the people from the Mechanical secure their food supply by having full control over level 122’s farm. With this, they ensure that Bernard cannot take away their food to attack them and will have to come up with other methods to take them down. While it remains unknown what Bernard will do next, the Mechanical’s acquisition of new levels gives them a significant edge.

Why Mechanical Desperately Needed A Food Supply In Silo Season 2

Bernard Poisoned Their Supply

One of Bernard’s moles in the Mechanical poisoned the entire food supply in the lower levels. The food shortage forced the people to surrender and give up on their fight against Bernard and his tyranny. However, the leading figures of the Mechanical ensured they had a backup plan, which involved getting food through the trash chute from the upper levels of the Silo. To their dismay, Bernard remained one step ahead and foresaw how the Mechanical would seek help from higher levels.

According to the lore inHugh Howey’sSilobooks, there are a total of 144 levels in Silo 18.

Therefore, he asked raiders to guard the trash chute to ensure no more food was sent down to the lower levels. After Bernard poisoned their food supply and even prevented them from using the trash chutes for help, the people from Mechanical deduced the perfect counter-plan to gain control over all the levels up to 120 in Silo 18. They forced their way up, and, as a result, inSiloseason 2’s episode 6, they eventually emerged victorious, preventing Bernard from securing dominance over them.
