AI is an amazing tool that can assist creators with pretty much anything they need. However, there are some dangers to using AI, which is why YouTube is stepping in to help protect the YouTube community.
Keep reading to learn why the use of AI disclosures on YouTube is important for you, whether you’re a YouTuber or a viewer.

YouTube to Require That Creators Disclose AI Content
As the use of AI becomes more prevalent, YouTube recognizes that it needs to implement new measures beyond its Community Guidelines. As explained in a post onthe Official YouTube Blog, moving into 2024, YouTube is going to roll out new rules requiring YouTubers to disclose if they have usedAI generators to create their videos.
For any video that is AI-generated, YouTube will place a label within the description panel. Furthermore, if the platform feels that the presented information in the video is sensitive, an additional label will be applied to the video player.

The main reason for this is to ensure the protection of its viewers due to the possibility that false or misleading information can be created when AI is involved. It will also allow AI to not digest its own false data as fact, which will assist in less misinformation.
Why AI Content Disclosure Is Important for the YouTube Community
The YouTube community consists of two groups of people: the users and the YouTubers. Both groups can be negatively affected by AI. However, these two groups will now be protected and assisted by YouTube’s new policy to disclose AI content within a video.
For Viewers
The greatest fear when it comes to watching YouTube videos is not knowing whether the information is accurate. By making creators state that their video is AI-generated, though, it’s allowing users to understand that they are viewing altered or synthetically created content.
This means that the content is not one hundred percent human-made. At this point, users shouldn’t blindly trust artificial intelligence. They can acknowledge that the information could be misleading and research on their part may need to be done.
Additionally, this opens up the potential ability for YouTube to allow users to filter content. For example, if a user only wants to see human-created videos, they’ll be able to remove AI content from their search. However, this particular feature has not been established as of YouTube’s announcement for AI content disclosure.
For YouTubers

In today’s technologically advanced world, YouTubers are starting to find themselves not only having to compete with each other but also with AI. The biggest struggle with that, though, is how many viewers have a hard time telling the difference between what is human-created and what is AI-generated.
By making anyone who uploads a synthetic or altered video disclose the fact, it gives YouTubers a leg up. They’ll be able to keep viewers coming back to their content because users will know that the information has a greater chance of being accurate compared to AI.
On top of that, YouTube is allowing music partners to submit removal requests of AI content if it is pretending to be an individual, including face or voice. They will also be able to submit a removal request when it concerns music that imitates an artist’s voice.
One of YouTube’s Top Priorities Is Keeping Its Community Safe
As AI starts to advance, it’s necessary for all websites and platforms to apply measures to ensure the safety of their users. For YouTube, this includes its creators as well.
In all, AI can be a great resource to utilize, but there are moments when it is important to understand that what you’re viewing wasn’t created by a person or may not be fact.
