Apple’s Calendar app is pretty useful for managing your schedule, but viewing your entire month on a relatively small screen limits the information you see. While iOS 18 added a new feature that makes it easy to see everything at a glance, you might have overlooked it.
See More or Less Information as Needed in Apple Calendar
You were previously limited to seeing just some colored lines on the Apple Calendar app by default in the month view. However, iOS 18 added one feature that makes the monthly view far more useful—you can now zoom out by pinching the screen, allowing you to see nearly two months right on the home screen. This can really help you when you’re doing some advanced planning, like moving your tasks around a one-week vacation that you’ve booked a few weeks ahead.
Additionally, if you spread your fingers on the monthly view of Apple Calendar, you will now see some of the details of your events without needing to go to the weekly, daily, or list view. If you zoom in further, you will even see the start time of each event—making daily planning weeks in advance much more convenient.

This view mode only works in portrait, though. If you turn your phone to the side and use the Calendar app in landscape format, it reverts to list view, which limits you to one month at a time. Still, having the ability to zoom in and out makes it easier to use the app for planning and gives Apple an advantage over Google Calendar.
This is just one of the fewhidden features we love on iOS 18, and I’ll likely start using Apple’s Calendar app more because of it. However, some of the other features that this update introduced were also a bit hard on the device’s battery, so you shoulddisable this setting if you want to extend for iPhone’s battery life.
